    Abstract: A trailer backup assist system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view exterior and rearward of the vehicle. An image processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera. With a trailer connected at the rear of the vehicle, the image processor is operable to determine an angle of the trailer relative to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. A user input is operable by a user to select a general direction or zone of travel of the trailer during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle. Responsive to the determined trailer angle and the selected zone of travel, the trailer backup assist system is operable to control the steering of the vehicle to drive the vehicle and trailer rearward such that the trailer travels generally towards a region encompassed by the selected direction or zone of travel.

    Abstract: A vehicular trailer angle detection system includes a camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle. The vehicular trailer angle detection system, via processing of frames of image data captured by the camera, tracks changes of features present in a current frame of captured image data and present in a previous frame of captured image data and determines features of the trailer based on the tracked changes of features. The determined features of the trailer have respective changes between the current frame of image data captured by the camera and the previous frame of image data captured by the camera. The vehicular trailer angle detection system determines angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle based at least in part on tracking of the determined features of the trailer over multiple captured frames of image data.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a central video/image processor configured to connect via a plurality of bidirectional mono-coaxial cables of a vehicle with a plurality of vehicular cameras of the vehicle. The central video/image processor includes an image processor. Each respective bidirectional mono-coaxial cable connecting the central video/image processor with a respective vehicular camera (i) carries control data from the central video/image processor to the respective vehicular camera and (ii) carries image data captured by the respective vehicular camera from the respective vehicular camera to the central video/image processor. Image data captured by at least a forward-viewing camera carried to the central video/image processor via a respective bidirectional mono-coaxial cable may be processed at the image processor of the central video/image processor to detect an object present exterior of the vehicle or may be processed for a plurality of driver assistance systems of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A method of detecting a trailer angle of a trailer being towed by a vehicle includes capturing frames of image data via a camera of the vehicle while the vehicle is towing a trailer, and, via processing by an image processor of frames of captured image data while the vehicle is towing the trailer, determining presence of the trailer being towed by the vehicle, and determining feature vectors of the trailer being towed by the vehicle. The feature vectors of the trailer are determined by determining features that have similar angular changes between a current frame of captured image data and a previous frame of captured image data. The angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle is determined responsive to tracking of determined feature vectors of the trailer present in the field of view of the camera over multiple frames of captured image data.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes forward viewing camera and a rear camera each having a respective field of view exterior of the vehicle. Each of the cameras has an LVDS chip and connects with a control via a respective mono coaxial cable. Each mono coaxial cable carries via LVDS image data captured by the respective camera. Image data captured by the forward viewing camera and carried to the control by the respective mono coaxial cable is processed at the control for object detection. The control generates an output provided to a video display device of the vehicle, the video display device having a video display screen viewable by a driver of the vehicle. The video display screen displays video images of an area rearward of the vehicle derived from image data captured by the rear camera and carried to the control by the respective mono coaxial cable.

    Abstract: A vehicular trailer backup assist system is operable to steer a vehicle, with a trailer connected at the rear of the vehicle, during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer. The system electronically overlays a plurality of zones over displayed video images, with each individual zone of the overlayed plurality of zones being indicative of a respective individual region rearward of the vehicle and trailer. Responsive to a selected zone of travel for the trailer, the control controls steering of the vehicle to steer the vehicle to guide the trailer towards the respective individual region that is encompassed by the selected zone of travel during reversing of the vehicle and trailer. The driver of the vehicle manually adjusts steering of the vehicle to more accurately steer the vehicle towards a target location within the respective individual region that is encompassed by the selected zone of travel.
