    摘要: A method and apparatus for securely booting software components in an electronic device to establish an operating environment are described herein. According to an aspect of the invention, software components are to be executed in sequence in order to establish an operating environment of a device. For each software component, a security code is executed to authenticate and verify an executable code image associated with each software component using one or more keys embedded within a secure ROM (read-only memory) of the device and one or more hardware configuration settings of the device. The security code for each software component includes a common functionality to authenticate and verify the executable code image associated with each software component. In response to successfully authenticating and verifying the executable code image, the executable code image is then executed in a main memory of the device to launch the associated software component.

    摘要: Apparatus for holding biological samples and methods of assembling the same are disclosed. In an embodiment, a pair of rigid frames is described, each frame comprising an aperture. A biological sample storage medium is placed between the two frames so that the biological sample storage medium at least partly overlaps each of the apertures in the frames. The two frames are joined to fix the biological sample storage medium in place while allowing access to the biological sample storage medium via each of the apertures. The frames can be rigid and waterproof, and provide a robust storage media for biological samples. At least one pre-defined area of weakness can be provided in the frames, to allow removal of a portion of the frames, which may correspond to indicia on the storage medium.

    摘要: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for generating random data at an early stage in a boot process. A system practicing the method performs, by a processor based on a first clock, a group of reads of a counter running on a second clock to yield entropy words. In order to produce words with entropy, the system introduces a progressively increasing delay between each of the group of reads of the counter. The system generates entropy words by filling the buffer with successive reads of the least significant bit of the counter and then generates random data by applying a hash algorithm to the entropy words stored in the buffer.

    摘要: Multi-ply tissue products are disclosed. The multi-ply tissue products contain tissue webs that have raised areas and depressed areas. The tissue webs may be constructed so as to be relatively non-compressive and may have a resilient three-dimensional structure. During production, in one embodiment, the tissue webs may be produced without being subjected to any substantial compression, such as a calendering process. Although not necessary in all applications, in one embodiment, the tissue webs may be combined such that the depressed areas contact each other to form the multi-ply product. The tissue webs, for instance, may comprise a through-air dried web in which the raised areas and the depressed areas are molded into the web. Tissue products made according to the present invention have enhanced absorption characteristics. For instance, the tissue products can have an interply absorbency of greater than about 3 g/g after 30 seconds.
