    摘要: A fixing roller in an image forming apparatus (such as a copier) has a fixing heater that is supplied power from a capacitor. The fixing heater, the capacitor, a mechanical switch (such as a relay) and a semiconductor switch (such as a FET) are serially connected. As a cover of the apparatus is opened, an interlock switch is turned on and outputs an off-signal to a CPU, which turns off the semiconductor switch prior to turning off the mechanical switch, and thereby prevents a counter-electromotive voltage due to an inrush current.

    摘要: A data storage apparatus and method that allows the signal processing circuit to be in integrated form, so that the magnetic storage system may be reduced in size with increased performance is described. The apparatus includes a reproducing head that reproduces information stored on a recording medium, a preamplifier that amplifies the output of the reproducing head, and a low-pass filter. An A/D converter converts the output for the low-pass filter to a digital signal and has a reference voltage. A discriminator is coupled to an output of the A/D converter and discriminates the digital signal. A circuit, coupled to the discriminator, provides negative feedback control of the reference voltage of the A/D converter as a function of the digital signal before the discrimination by the discriminator and the digital signal that has been discriminated by the discriminator.

    摘要: A nonlinear compensation A/D converting method and a circuit for compensating asymmetry of a reproduction signal waveform, so as not to deteriorate the performance of a discriminator even if there is a nonlinearity such that the amplitudes of the signal differ in dependence on the polarities of the waveforms like a reproduction waveform of an MR head are provided. Scales 1+ and 1- of an A/D converter are set to values which differ in dependence on the positive and negative polarities of the input signal, so that a nonlinear compensation which is suitable for a high accurate and high speed operation can be realized. Even an MR head in which the asymmetry between the upper and lower waveforms of the reproduction waveform is large can be used. A yield of the head can be improved.
