Abstract:
In device-to-device (D2D) communication in a licensed spectrum, selection of a transmit pool and distribution of codes to be transmitted to the transmit pools for more efficient transmission is desired, for a given period. The apparatus may a user equipment (UE) for D2D communication in a licensed spectrum. The UE sets a discovery epoch to a shortest discovery period among discovery periods of a plurality of transmit resource pools, each transmit resource pool of the plurality of transmit resource pools associated with a respective frequency. The UE estimates a channel utilization of each transmit resource pool of the plurality of transmit resource pools based on one or more previous transmissions on each transmit resource pool of the plurality of transmit resource pools. The UE selects a transmit resource pool among the plurality of transmit resource pools for a D2D transmission within the discovery epoch based on the estimated channel utilizations.
Abstract:
A method for wireless communication, for example, accessing a wireless network via a network access node and determining whether the network access node is a frequented node or a non-frequented node based on an identifier for the network access node is provided. The method executes a modem function using a corresponding selected hypothesis having associated weights for each feature associated with the modem function, and being a unit sourced hypothesis or a crowd sourced hypothesis, each hypothesis corresponding to a modem function and including a plurality of features, state information and at least one trigger point. The method sends information, to a server, the information comprising a device identifier identifying the UE, the modem function, the selected hypothesis and associated weights, metrics for each feature and state information, if state information is available, in response to a trigger point being met when executing the modem function. Other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
An example method of facilitating communication between a mobile device and a target peer includes receiving, at a proxy executing on a mobile device, a communication to initiate a real-time communication connection with a target peer. The method also includes determining one or more capabilities of the target peer. The method further includes initiating a session with the target peer, where the session is based on the one or more determined capabilities of the target peer.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that a number of access stratum (AS) operations or communications have failed while attempting to communicate with a cell. Based on the AS failures, the UE may deprioritize the cell. For example, based on the deprioritization, the UE may bar certain cells from selection or reselection procedures. The UE may thus attempt to select or reselect a different cell even if the cell is ranked lower based on a selection criteria or reselection criteria. In some cases, UEs may store and share historical AS failure information that may also be used to determine when to deprioritize a cell. In some cases, a group of cells may be deprioritized (e.g., a group based on frequency, network, or tracking area).
Abstract:
Techniques for setting up a packet-switched video telephony (PSVT) call are described. A mobile originated (MO) device may transmit an invitation for the PSVT call to a mobile terminated (MT) device. The invitation may initiate a process to reserve and identify video and audio resources to establish the PSVT call. The MO device may determine whether the video resources are available. If the video resources are not available but audio resources are available, the MO device may instead establish the PSVT call with only an audio stream call between the MO device and the MT device. If audio resources become available ahead of video resources, the PSVT call may be established with an audio stream first and a video stream is automatically added to the call when video resources are reserved later, or the PSVT call is downgraded to a VoIP call if the video resources cannot be reserved.
Abstract:
Techniques for performing WLAN system scanning and selection are described. A terminal performs multiple iterations of scan to detect for WLAN systems. A scan list containing at least one WLAN system to detect for is initially determined. For each scan iteration, a scan type may be selected from among the supported scan types. The selected scan type may indicate passive scan or active scan, frequency channels to scan, etc. A scan may be performed based on the selected scan type. Signal strength measurements are obtained for access points received during the scan and used to identify detected access points. After all scan iterations are completed, candidates access points are identified based on the scan results, e.g., based on the signal strength measurements for the detected access points and a detection threshold. The best candidate access point may be selected for association by the terminal.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for accessing a service of a wireless carrier network through a wireless local area network (WLAN) are described. A method includes selecting one or more traffic management parameters associated with the WLAN based at least in part on one or more quality of service (QoS) parameters associated with the service of the wireless carrier network being accessed. The method further includes transmitting packets over the WLAN using the selected one or more traffic management parameters associated with the WLAN when a user equipment accesses the service of the wireless carrier network through the WLAN. The user equipment enforces the selected one or more traffic management parameters for communications to the wireless carrier network. An access point enforces the selected one or more traffic management parameters for communications to the user equipment.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A user equipment (UE), for example, may determine a content size of an uncompressed buffer and a content size of a compressed buffer. The UE may then generate a buffer status report (BSR) based on the content sizes of the uncompressed buffer and the compressed buffer. Alternatively, a base station may receive a BSR based on a size of an uncompressed buffer of the UE. The base station may then receive a compressed packet from the UE and may determine a compression gain based on a size of the compressed packet and a size of a corresponding uncompressed packet. The base station may then adjust the received BSR based on the compression gain.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a device. A transmitting device such as a base station may select some packets for direct transmission to a receiving device using data compression based on the reliability of the direct connection. The transmitting device may select other packets for indirect transmission via an unreliable connection using uncompressed packets or compressed packets that will not be used to update a compression buffer. In some cases, uncompressed packets may also be sent via the reliable connection. If a packet sent over the unreliable connection is lost, it may be transmitted over the reliable connection.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for early radio link failure (RLF) declaration. A UE may identify a measurement report message (MRM) trigger and initiate an RLF procedure. In the RLF procedure the UE may determine whether a radio link condition indicative of an RLF has been satisfied before an expiration of a timer that is initiated by the MRM trigger. As an example, the UE may determine that a threshold number of uplink radio link signaling messages, such as MRMs, have been transmitted without a radio link control (RLC) acknowledgement (ACK). The UE may declare RLF based on the determination that the radio link condition has been satisfied. In some examples the UE may verify that channel conditions are better for a target cell than for the serving cell, and may declare RLF based further on the channel comparison.
