    Abstract: An electric motor communication system for use with a fluid moving system and using at least one wireless sensor network is provided. The electric motor communication system includes an electric motor that includes a motor management device configured to transmit and receive input signals via the wireless sensor network, and a processing device coupled to said motor management device and configured to control said electric motor based at least in part on input signals received at said motor management device. The electric motor communication system also includes at least one external device configured to collect data and to transmit said input signals, via the wireless sensor network, to said electric motor.

    Abstract: A drive circuit for a permanent split capacitor (PSC) motor includes an inverter, a solid state switch, and a contactor coupled in parallel with the solid state switch. The inverter is configured to supply variable frequency current to the PSC motor over a first duration. The solid state switch is configured to supply line frequency current to the PSC motor at the expiration of the first duration. The contactor is configured to supply the line frequency current to the PSC motor over a second duration beginning when the contactor closes after expiration of the first duration.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for programming an electric motor are provided. An electric motor controller configured to be coupled to an electric motor is configured to control the electric motor to produce torque when direct current (DC) link voltage has up to 100% voltage ripple. The controller includes a first power input, a second power input, and a third power input, an energized line detection device, and a microprocessor. Each power input is configured to receive power from an alternating current (AC) power source. The energized line detection device is configured to sense which power input has received power from the AC power source and output an isolated signal. The microprocessor is coupled downstream from the energized line detection device and is configured to determine an operating profile for the electric motor based on the isolated signal.

    Abstract: A control system for an electric motor configured to drive a fluid-moving apparatus. The control system includes a drive circuit and a processor coupled in communication with the drive circuit. The processor is configured to control the drive circuit to operate the electric motor at a plurality of control values of a control parameter and determine, for each of the plurality of control values, a fluid-flow value and a feedback value, the feedback value corresponding to a feedback parameter, compute a mathematical relationship between fluid-flow rate and one of the control parameter or the feedback parameter, receive a fluid-flow rate demand value, compute an operating setpoint for the control parameter based on the fluid-flow rate demand value and the computed mathematical relationship, and control the drive circuit to operate the electric motor at the operating setpoint.

    Abstract: A motor controller for an electric motor for driving a blower to generate an airflow. The motor controller includes a processor and a drive circuit configured to regulate power supplied to the motor to turn the blower. The processor computes a system resistance for the blower based on a fixed set point for a first control parameter and a feedback parameter. The processor receives an airflow rate demand value and computes an operating set point for a second control parameter based on the system resistance and the airflow rate demand value. The processor controls the drive circuit based on the operating set point to supply electrical power to the electric motor and to operate the blower to generate the airflow.
