摘要: In a method of producing a polymer composite, a polymer is provided in a liquid state such as a molten state. A plant material, such as soymeal, is provided that includes protein and carbohydrate. A reactive protein denaturant is also provided. A dispersion of the plant material and the reactive protein denaturant is formed in a matrix of the liquid polymer. The plant material is reacted to bond with the reactive protein denaturant, and the reactive protein denaturant is reacted to bond with the polymer. The polymer is solidified to produce the polymer composite.

摘要: A wound dressing system comprising a wrap and a frangible ampoule is provided. The wrap is configured to contact/surround a wound site and includes an oxygen catalyst. The ampoule includes an oxygen precursor. The catalyst and precursor are configured to form oxygen when combined. A wound dressing system including a container is also provided that includes a powder, wrap, and frangible ampoule. The powder is disposed within the container, which is configured to allow the powder to be dispersed onto a wound site when activated. The wrap, which may include an oxygen catalyst, is also disposed in the container and is configured to contact/surround the wound site. The ampoule, also disposed in the container, includes a liquid containing an oxygen precursor. The liquid is configured to contact the wrap when the container is activated. Further, the catalyst and precursor are configured to form oxygen when combined.

摘要: Aqueous prepolymer dispersions are provided, as are methods for making aqueous prepolymer dispersions. For example, an aqueous polyurethane prepolymer dispersion may be prepared by a process. The process may include contacting a soybean oil polyester polyol and an isocyanate reactive monomer together in a first mixture. The isocyanate reactive monomer may be functionalized with a tertiary amine salt of an isocyanate-unreactive organic acid. The process may include contacting the first mixture with a diisocyanate to form a neutralized polyurethane prepolymer. The process may include contacting the neutralized polyurethane prepolymer with water to form the aqueous polyurethane prepolymer dispersion.

摘要: A composition for an easy to clean surface comprises a reaction product of a. a first compound of a formula AYB, wherein A comprises an alkyl group, Y comprises a metalloid, and B comprises alkali metal; b. a second compound comprising i. a compound (1) selected from a group consisting of a compound of a formula MR or a precursor of the compound of the formula MR, wherein M is selected from a group consisting of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, transition metal, and a mixture thereof, and R is selected from a group consisting of phosphonic group, phosphinic group, phosphoric group, and a mixture thereof; ii. a compound (2) comprising metal oxides, metal hydroxides, or metal peroxides, wherein the metal is selected from alkaline earth metals; and/or iii. A mixture thereof; and c. an optional polymer. Methods of making and using the above compositions are also included.

摘要: An electrically conductive coating composition is provided for use on aircraft and other substrate surfaces to prevent the formation of ice or to melt ice. The conductive coating composition may include a nanomaterial such as carbon nanotubes dispersed in a solvent which may be applied to a substrate surface to form a thin film which is resistively heatable. The conductive coating may also comprise a nanomaterial formed from carbon nanotubes or fullerenes grafted to a polymer containing an active functional group which renders a substrate surface icephobic and is also resistively heatable.

摘要: A filled nanoparticle includes a nanosized polymer shell encapsulating a reactive chemical. In another aspect, a filled nanoparticle includes a nanosized polymer shell encapsulating a core which includes a reactive functional group attached to a polymer. A miniemulsion polymerization process of producing filled nanoparticles includes: providing a mixture comprising monomer, initiator or catalyst to aid polymerization, reactive chemical, surfactant and water; shearing the mixture to form a miniemulsion of nanosized particles dispersed in water, the nanosized particles comprising the monomer combined with the reactive chemical; and then heating the miniemulsion to polymerize the monomer and produce filled nanoparticles comprising a nanosized polymer shell encapsulating the reactive chemical.
