摘要： A suction silencer for suppressing generation of noise caused by gas or air sucked by a machine such as a compressor, internal combustion engine or the like. The suction silencer has amounting seat by which it is mounted on the suction side of a machine such as an internal combustion engine. The mounting seat has an opening leading to the suction port of the machine. An inversed conical surface protrudes from the peripheral edge of the opening. A lid member is attached to cover the inversed conical surface such that a small gap is left between the inner surface of the lid member and the large-diameter end of the inversed conical surface. The lid member has an inversed conical member which projects into the space defined by the conical surface so that an annular passage is formed between the inversed conical surface and the peripheral surface of the inversed conical member.

摘要： An image processing apparatus includes circuitry to: obtain a read image read from an image of a document output from an image reading device; detect an edge between a background area and a document area in the read image; sample a detection result of the edge at each first interval in a first direction to extract a first boundary point group including a plurality of boundary points; sample the detection result of the edge at each second interval in the first direction to extract a second boundary point group including a plurality of boundary points; determine a noise removal condition based on the first boundary point group; remove, from the second boundary point group, a boundary point satisfying the noise removal condition as noise; and calculate a linear equation approximating the second boundary point group from which the noise is removed.

摘要： An optical fiber inspecting system 1A comprises a waveform measuring unit 2 for measuring an OTDR waveform for an optical fiber F to be inspected and a waveform evaluating unit 3 for evaluating an anomaly within the optical fiber. The waveform evaluating unit 3 comprises a calculating part 4 and a detecting part 5. The calculating part 4 calculates the gradient and the amount of change in gradient of the waveform at each time point. The detecting part 5 determines whether or not the gradient and the amount of change in gradient are within a defined allowable range of gradient and a defined allowable range of amount of change, respectively. This realizes an optical fiber inspecting system, an inspection method and a selecting method, all of which enable to detect reliably an anomaly within an optical fiber through an OTDR waveform.

摘要： The present invention provides an air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion engine capable of achieving a high degree of cooling. The present invention is directed to an air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion engine including a crankshaft and a fan rotor rotatably driven by the crankshaft to generate cooling air for cooling the engine. The engine comprises an oil pan disposed below the crankshaft. A space formed below the oil pan extends in the axial direction of the crankshaft along the lower surface of the oil pan and allows a cooling air to pass therethrough. An upstream portion of the lower surface is inclined upward, toward the upstream, in a vertical section taken along the axis of the crankshaft to receive the cooling air therein.
