摘要: A system and associated methods are described for preparing a magnetic disk for installation within a disk drive system. For example, a polyfunctional lubricant may be mixed with a chemical agent to esterify the polyfunctional lubricant and cap hydroxyl groups of the polyfunctional lubricant. The magnetic disk may then be dip coated with the polyfunctional lubricant and chemical agent mixture. A polishing system then polishes the magnetic disk via an abrasive polishing tape after dip coating the magnetic disk. A portion of the chemical agent is then removed from the magnetic disk to bond a portion of the lubricant to the magnetic disk to prevent the lubricant from interfering with a read/write head when installed within a disk drive system.

摘要: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for controlling out-gassing and humidity in a closed space-constrained environment. In particular, an environment control device is disclosed which is made using thermoforming techniques such that the walls of the device are much thinner than other conventional devices. This allows for the device to be used in space-constrained environment while still providing a sufficient amount of absorber material such as a desiccant. The apparatus includes a base made up of a thin flexible plastic film thermoformed to create a cavity having at least one wall, the cavity having an opening on one side. An absorber material, such as a desiccant, is placed inside the cavity, and a cover made up of a permeable layer sealed to the base opening to complete an enclosure for holding the absorber material.

摘要: A method and apparatus for regulating the concentration of a vapor within a hard drive are provided. In one embodiment, the method may include providing a source chemical of a vapor in a first cavity formed within a first object, providing an absorptive chemical which absorbs the vapor in a second cavity formed within the first object, and providing a third cavity formed by a hard drive housing of the hard drive. A first conductance path having a first conductance connects the first cavity to the third cavity, a second conductance path having a second conductance connects the second cavity to the third cavity, and the first conductance and the second conductance maintain a partial pressure level of the vapor within the third cavity.

摘要: Multiple punchthru devices are coupled between multiple metal-two conductors and a metal-one bond pad. Each punchthru device has the capacity to couple its respective metal-two conductor to the bond pad when a predetermined voltage potential exists between the metal-two conductor and the bond pad. A set of metal-one islands, one set associated with each metal-one bond pad cell, resides in a bond pad channel. The positioning of the punchthru devices and the islands minimizing the bond pad cell size and minimizing the spacing between adjacent bond pad cells. The bond pad cell configuration also allows any metal-two conductor to be coupled to the bond pad without having to rearrange punchthru devices or reconfigure the bond pad cell. The multiple punchthru devices associated with each bond pad cell provide redundant overvoltage protection superior to present overvoltage protection circuits.

摘要: A power supply circuit for an LED print head has a reference current source connected to a printer system reference voltage for providing a second reference voltage for an individual, integrated circuit chip. A plurality of substantially similar field effect transistors have their gates connected to the chip reference voltage for providing substantially similar current to each of a plurality of light emitting diodes. The current is enabled to each such LED by the presence or absence of a data signal. A reference resistor in the reference current source permits adjustment so that each of a plurality of integrated circuit chips can provide substantially similar current to each of a plurality of LED dice, or adjust the current level, if required, to achieve similar light output from each LED.

摘要: A marked reduction in the pressure drop of cooling liquid through a grid spacer of a nuclear fuel assembly is attained by convexly contouring the upstream (usually the lower) edges of the grid members. Preferably, they are made streamlined or semicylindrical. This can be done by first beveling and then etching them, by directing a stream of mixture of abrasive and an organic polymer against them, or by traversing an electron or laser beam along them at a power and velocity such as to cause local melting. A lesser improvement is secured by beveling alone. A still further improvement can be obtained by also tapering the downstream (usually upper) edges.

摘要: Our invention relates to open coil electric heating elements of conventional construction but treated to resist corrosion and to electrically insulate exposed metallic surfaces. In accordance with the invention, the component parts of the heater, except the coiled resistance wire and in some cases the supporting insulating bushings, are assembled and then coated with a silicone resin-based coating composition. The composition is applied in a flowable state to cover all exposed surfaces and fill all cracks and crevices to thereby prevent accumulation of moisture thereat.
