Abstract:
Compositions and methods are provided for preparing an hsiRNA mixture and for silencing of gene expression in vivo. The composition relates to a mutant RnaseIII. The methods are directed to reacting a preparation of dsRNA with an effective amount of a mutant RNAse III to produce the hsiRNA mixture.
Abstract:
A method of improving USB device virtualization to prevent bus bandwidth from being over allocated when isochronous USB devices are attached to multiple virtual machines by attaching a dummy device to each virtual machine which will mimic the bandwidth reservations made by real devices in other virtual machines, thus allowing each virtual machine to determine the true available bandwidth. The dummy devices are represented by incorporating a dummy device driver in each virtual machine and emulating the dummy device in software in the VMM.
Abstract:
A method for performing virtualization, includes managing data between a virtual machine and a bus controller by transmitting an input output (IO) request from the virtual machine to a service virtual machine that owns the bus controller. According to an alternate embodiment, the method for performing virtualization includes managing isochronous data between a virtual machine and a bus controller. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a gel processing and transfer device, useful for the processing and transferring un-damaged and intact gel with minimal handling, said device comprising at least 4 separable components namely: a base plate for holding the gels with facility to drain out solution; a retaining rim with attached side-walls, said side walls are fastened to the base plate by a fastening means; at least one “O” ring fixed to the retaining rim to give leakproof arrangement with the base plate; and a lid to cover the assembly.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a novel purified isozyme of an autoclavable superoxide dismutase extracted from the plant Potentilla atrosanguinea Lodd. Var. areyrophylla, said isozyme having the following characteristics, O2− scavenging activity remains same before and after autoclaving; scavenges O2− from sub-zero temperature of −20° C. to high temperature of +80° C.; O2− scavenging activity at 25° C. for 30 days without adding any stabilizing agent such as polyols or sugars; O2− scavenging activity in the presence of saline (0.9% sodium chloride) to 61.8% of the control (without 0.9% sodium chloride), stable at 4° C. for at least 8 months; contamination free and infection free from any living micro- and/or macro-organism after autoclaving; possesses temperature optima at 0° C.; possesses a molecular weight of 33 kD under non-denaturating conditions; possesses a molecular weight of 36 kD under denaturating conditions; has clear peaks in UV range at 268 and 275 nm; has an enzyme turnover number of 19.53×104% per nmol per min at 0° C.; and requires Cu/Zn as a co-factor, method for the preparation of the purified isozyme of autoclavable superoxide dismutase and formulations containing the said autoclavable superoxide dismutase.
Abstract:
A beverage dispensing apparatus includes a mixing chamber for mixing hot water, a beverage concentrate and cold water, as well as one or more additives. The hot water and cold water are supplied at a predetermined flow rate at a predetermined proportion, regardless of the pressure of the water supply. A water heater supplies the hot water within a specified pressure range and without significant entrapped air.
Abstract:
ppGaNTase-T6 polypeptides and polynucleotides and methods for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing ppGaNTase-T6 polypeptides and polynucleotides in diagnostic assays.
Abstract:
Methods and systems to permit multiple virtual machines (VMs) to separately configure and access a physical resource, substantially outside of a virtual machine monitor (VMM) that hosts the VMs. Each of a plurality of virtual machines (VMs) may access and configure the physical device through corresponding instances of a device driver that exposes controllable functions of the physical device within the VMs. VM-specific configuration parameters and connection information may be maintained for each of the VMs, outside of a VMM, to reconfigure or virtualize the physical device for each of the VMs with the corresponding VM-specific configuration parameters and connection information. Physical device virtualization augmentation features may be implemented within a combination of a physical device controller and a host device driver that executes outside of the VM.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing a reverse name lookup in a file system is described. A file system driver executing on the computing system agent may receive a reverse name lookup request for an inode number. The file system driver retrieves a disk inode, corresponding to the inode number, a first block number of a first directory entry (dentry), the first dentry identifying directory data blocks where the inode number and a file name are stored. The file system driver searches the first dentry for the inode number to find the corresponding file name, and retrieves the file name from the first dentry.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for creating selective snapshots may include (1) determining that a snapshot has been taken of a volume of data that includes at least one file, (2) identifying a first attempted modification to a first block of the file, (3) determining, based on a block map of the file, that the first block falls within a scope of the snapshot, (4) copying the first block before the first attempted modification for use in the snapshot, (5) identifying a second attempted modification to a second block of the file, (6) determining, based on the block map of the file, that the second block does not fall within the scope of the snapshot, and (7) allowing the second attempted modification without first copying the second block for use in the snapshot. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
