Abstract: A first Mobility Management Entity (MME) receives a tracking area update from the User Equipment (UE) indicating a first tracking area for the wireless relay that serves the UE and indicating a second tracking area for the evolved NodeB (eNodeB) that serves the wireless relay. The first MME determines if the first tracking area and the second tracking area are different responsive to the tracking area update, and if the first tracking area and the second tracking area are different, then determines if the wireless relay is controlled by a second MME that also controls the eNodeB. If the wireless relay is not controlled by the second MME that also controls the eNodeB, then the first MME transfers UE context data to the second MME that serves the eNodeB. The second MME selects the Serving Gateway (S-GW) for the UE based on the second tracking area for the eNodeB.

Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) registers with a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The UE registers with an Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) over the LTE network. The UE registers with a Wireless Fidelity (WIF) network. The UE receives a status request from the LTE network responsive to a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) invite for the UE received at the IMS. The UE transfers a status response to the LTE network that indicates the WIFI network responsive to the status request. The UE receives the SIP invite from the IMS over the WIFI network. The UE exchanges user data for the media session over the WIFI network.

Abstract: In a communication system, a translation server individually associates session control servers with transfer control servers. One of the session control servers receives a registration for a User Equipment (UE) over a first network. The translation server associates the UE with the session control server in the data structure. The session control server exchanges first control signaling with the UE to establish a media session over the first network. The translation server receives a session transfer request for the UE from a second network. The translation server processes the data structure to identify the transfer control server that is associated with the session control server that is associated with the UE. The translation server transfers the session transfer request to the transfer control server. The transfer control server exchanges second control signaling with the second network to transfer the media session from the first network to the second network.

Abstract: A wireless access point is linked to multiple wireless network cores. The wireless access point wirelessly transmits a multi-role wireless network identifier for a multi-role network. The wireless access point wirelessly receives device attachment signaling indicating a device role from the wireless user device responsive to the multi-role wireless network identifier. The wireless access point processes the device role to select the optimal one of the wireless network cores from the multiple wireless network cores. The wireless access point transfers network attachment signaling for the wireless user device to the selected and optimal wireless network core.

Abstract: A Fifth Generation Core (5GC) Long Term Evolution (LTE) network authenticates a wireless User Equipment (UE) for LTE data service using a 5GC Subscriber Concealed Identifier (SUCI). A Mobility Management Entity (MME) receives the 5GC SUCI and transfers the 5GC SUCI to a 5GC authentication system. The 5GC authentication system determines a 5GC Subscriber Permanent Identifier (SUPI) and authentication vector based on the 5GC SUCI. The 5GC authentication system transfers the 5GC SUPI and the 5GC authentication vector to the MME. The MME exchanges 5GC authentication data with the UE. The MME authenticates the UE based on the 5GC authentication vector and the 5GC authentication data. In response to the 5GC authentication, the MME initiates the LTE data service for the UE based on the 5GC SUPI.

Abstract: A wireless relay attaches to a wireless base station and broadcasts a wireless hop count. Another wireless relay receives the wireless hop count and attaches to the wireless relay. The other wireless relay increments the wireless hop count and broadcasts the incremented wireless hop count. The wireless relays receive attachment requests from User Equipment (UEs) responsive to their wireless hop counts. The wireless relays exchange user data with the UEs after the attachments.
