Abstract: A first Mobility Management Entity (MME) receives a tracking area update from the User Equipment (UE) indicating a first tracking area for the wireless relay that serves the UE and indicating a second tracking area for the evolved NodeB (eNodeB) that serves the wireless relay. The first MME determines if the first tracking area and the second tracking area are different responsive to the tracking area update, and if the first tracking area and the second tracking area are different, then determines if the wireless relay is controlled by a second MME that also controls the eNodeB. If the wireless relay is not controlled by the second MME that also controls the eNodeB, then the first MME transfers UE context data to the second MME that serves the eNodeB. The second MME selects the Serving Gateway (S-GW) for the UE based on the second tracking area for the eNodeB.

Abstract: A wireless relay wirelessly receives user data from User Equipment (UE) using a UE uplink Carrier Aggregation (CA) configuration. The wireless relay wirelessly transfers the user data using a relay uplink. The wireless relay determines available Power Headroom (PHR) for the relay uplink and translates the available PHR into a new UE uplink CA configuration. The wireless relay wirelessly receives additional user data from the UE using the new UE uplink CA configuration.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for preventing release of a wireless traffic channel before update process completion. In a particular embodiment, a method provides establishing a wireless traffic channel between the wireless communication device and a wireless access point of a wireless communication network. The method further provides identifying an event that triggers release of the wireless traffic channel by the wireless communication device and, upon identifying the event, preventing the release of the wireless traffic channel until a background update process that uses the wireless traffic channel is completed. Upon completion of the background update process, the method provides allowing the release of the wireless traffic channel.

Abstract: Multiple mobile devices can request or wait for acknowledgement from a device associated with a mobile telecommunications network. Embodiments of the present invention include creating and broadcasting a single acknowledgment to multiple mobile devices. Mobile devices can be associated with identifiers that include sets of characters. In order to acknowledge more than one device with one broadcast, subsets of characters from more than one identifier can be included in one value. One acknowledgement is broadcast to multiple devices. The devices are able to identify the unique subsets of characters and compare them to portions of identifiers. Multiple devices can recognize acknowledgement based on a shared value that is broadcast to the devices.
