The present invention reduces the weight of a transmission by mounting only one larger-diameter gear on a final shaft. The transmission of the present invention includes an output shaft; a countershaft extending parallel to the output shaft; an intermediate shaft extending parallel to the output shaft; a forward drive gear rotatably supported relative to the countershaft; a reverse drive gear rotatably supported relative to the countershaft; a first intermediate gear rotatably supported relative to the intermediate shaft, the first intermediate gear normally meshing with the reverse drive gear; a second intermediate gear rotatably supported relative to the intermediate shaft, the second intermediate gear being interlocked with the first intermediate gear to rotate therewith; an output shaft driven gear fixed to the output shaft, the output shaft driven gear being normally meshing with the forward drive gear and the second intermediate gear; and a gear selecting and fixing device axially movably mounted on the countershaft for selectively fixing the forward drive gear and the reverse drive gear to the countershaft.

At least a part of the mechanism for switching the gear for forward travel and the gear for backward travel is provided between a crankcase and a crankcase cover. At least one of shafts forming the switching mechanism is partially overlapped with a main shaft or a counter shaft in the axial direction.

    摘要: Many vehicles designed for running on rough terrain include an automatic transmission for performing speed change by connecting or disconnecting an oil hydraulic clutch provided alongside each speed change gear. However, depending on the posture of the driver, it may be impossible to step on the brake. As a result, it may be impossible to achieve creep prevention with a creep preventive mechanism dependent on a brake signal. Therefore, a creep preventive mechanism which operates independently from a brake signal is required. The present invention provides an oil pressure control system operating independently from a brake signal. The system includes an oil pressure supply source with a linear solenoid valve for supplying working oil or interrupting the supply of the working oil to the oil hydraulic clutches. The supply of the working oil to the clutches is interrupted when the vehicle is stopped under an idling condition of an engine.

    摘要: To provide a four-cycle engine for a vehicle, in which a cylinder bore is disposed in such a manner that the axial line thereof extends substantially in the horizontal direction. Furthermore, a cam shaft is disposed between an intake valve and an exhaust valve which have operational axial lines crossing each other in an approximately V-shape. The engine is capable of making the position of the outer end portion of an exhaust valve as close to the axial line of a cylinder bore as possible, thereby making the mounting position of the engine as low as possible. A cam shaft is disposed above the axial line of a cylinder bore and on a projection plane perpendicular to the axial line of a crank shaft, including the axial line of the cylinder bore. Furthermore, an angle formed between the axial line of the cylinder bore and the operational axial line of an intake valve is set to be larger than an angle formed between the axial line of the cylinder bore and the operational axial line of an exhaust valve.

    摘要: To provide a breather apparatus for a horizontally-opposed type or a V-type engine in which first and second cylinder blocks having first and second cylinder bores are commonly connected to a crank case in such a manner that the axial line of the first cylinder bore is offset from the axial line of the second cylinder bore to one side of the crank shaft along the axial line of the crank shaft. A cam chain chamber is provided in the crank case, the cylinder blocks and the cylinder heads on one side of the crank shaft along the axial line of the crank shaft. Furthermore, a breather chamber is formed in the second cylinder block, the second cylinder head, and the crank case at a position between the cam chain chamber and the second cylinder bore. The breather chamber has a relatively large capacity, while enlargement of the engine is avoided.

T)!, viscosity (.eta.=f(T) and a pressure loss coefficient K=f(.DELTA.P, Q, .eta.) of the exhaust gases passing through the filter assembly, and wherein the reverse washing mechanism is activated under control of an electronic controller when the calculated pressure loss coefficient (K) becomes more than a predetermined value (K0) and is deactivated when the calculated pressure loss coefficient becomes less than the predetermined value (K0).

The filter has a honeycomb cellular structure including an inlet, outlet and a plurality of thin partition walls forming a plurality of axial passages. The filter has two groups of passages, a first group of passages that are closed along the inlet end of the filter and second group of passages that are closed along the outlet end of the filter. Further, a cover body is provided in the housing to form a chamber between the cover body and the outlet end of the filter. The chamber is in open communication with the first group of passages, and includes an outlet duct for passage of gas therethrough and to the discharge duct.
