Abstract:
An apparatus useful in the assembly of printer cartridges includes a plurality of accumulator bags removeably secured to a carrier sheet. Each accumulator bag includes a first polymer film panel and a second polymer film panel welded together to form a pressurizable chamber with an aperture formed in the bag to provide access to the pressurizable chamber. An annular adhesive element is secured to each bag such that an aperture of the annular adhesive element is generally concentric with the aperture of the accumulator bag. The carrier sheet includes an upper adhesive stripe, a lower adhesive stripe, and a silicone stripe. The plurality of accumulator bags is removeably secured to the carrier sheet by adhering an upper portion of each bag to the upper adhesive stripe, adhering a lower portion of each bag to the lower adhesive stripe, and positioning the annular adhesive element in contact with the silicone stripe.
Abstract:
A multi-layer one-way valve (100) includes: a first layer (10) having at least one first opening (12) formed therein; a second layer (20) having at least one second opening (22) formed therein; and, a third layer (30). The first and second layers are joined together such that at least one first channel (14) is defined therebetween, and the second and third layers are joined together such that at least one second channel (24) is defined therebetween. Additionally, an amount of flow-able liquid is deposited in the first channel between the first and second openings. Suitably, the valve selectively opens to permit gas flow through the first and second channels in response to a pressure differential, the rate of gas flow through the valve is exponentially proportional to the pressure differential.
Abstract:
The specification discloses an in-mold label (IML) having an improved holographic image. The label includes a base ply and a top ply laminated together. The base ply is an in-mold label material, and the top decorative ply is a different material that is smoother than the base ply material. A holographic material is on the top surface of the top ply, and a holographic image in formed in the holographic material to provide a bright, aesthetically attractive label.
Abstract:
The specification discloses a label assembly having a portion that projects from a container. The label assembly includes a base layer and a projecting or billboard layer. The billboard layer is partially adhered to the base layer leaving marginal portions that are not adhered to the base layer. The base layer is adapted to conform to the container. The billboard layer is relatively stiff, enabling the marginal portions to extend away from the container.
Abstract:
A pre-printed rigid thermoformable material suitable for use in manufacturing consumer retail packaging. The material includes two rigid thermoformable layers or films adhered together. Printing is included on either or both of the facing surfaces of the films, so that the printing is protected between the adhered layers.
Abstract:
An expanded content label including independently accessible information fields. In one embodiment, the label includes an overlaminate and an expanded content device having fan-folded panels and first and second information fields. Optionally, the information fields are in different languages. The overlaminate is secured over the panels so that margins extend beyond opposing edges. Each margin is releasably and resealably adhered to a base label and/or an article. The panels fan-fold open when one margin is released to provide a user with a view of the first information field, but not the second information field, and vice versa when the other margin is released. A related method includes: providing a fan-folded device; placing an overlaminate over the device to form margins, and securing the device to a label base, wherein the margins are independently releasable and resealable to fan-fold open the device and selectively access either information field.
Abstract:
An expanded content label (ECL) having a segmented base label that allows the label to conform to a curved surface. A booklet and covering overlaminate are secured to the spaced-apart segments of the base to interconnect the segments. The gap between the segments enhances the ability of the label to flex and move along a supporting curved surface to conform to the surface without buckling or wrinkling. The label is produced by die cutting a web to form a segmented base label, securing a booklet to the segmented base label, and optionally securing an overlaminate to the booklet. At least one of the booklet and the overlaminate bridge the segments of the base label. In an alternative embodiment, the overlaminate is eliminated and the booklet includes a coversheet that extends across the gap between the base label segments.
Abstract:
A printable sheet having one or more separable identification or the like is disclosed. A face sheet is overlyingly adhered to a backing sheet by a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive. The rear surface of the face sheet is pattern coated with a release agent only in regions disposed in registration with the cards to be formed as portions of the face sheet. A cut line is formed through the face sheet along the perimeters of the cards so that the cards may be readily peeled away leaving the remainder of the face sheet adhered to the backing sheet. The printable sheet may be imprinted on automated printing devices and is particularly suited for printing with a laser printer. Also disclosed is a method for making the printable sheet.
