摘要: A streaking tube has fiber cables, and the fiber cables are buried in a faceplate made of glass or fiber and arranged in line passing through the center of the faceplate so that the inner edges of the respective fiber cables are set to the inner surface of the faceplate. A photocathode is formed thereon. Any faceplate areas other than those of the fiber cables are shielded to eliminate unwanted noises.

摘要: A system for calibrating the time axis of an X-ray streak tube comprising a light source for generating a train of light pulses and an X-ray tube including a photocathode for receiving the light pulses. Upon receiving the light pulses, the X-ray tube generates a train of X-rays which excite the photocathode of the streak tube causing it to emit an electron beam. The electron beam is scanned by a sweep voltage synchronized with the light pulses and applied across deflection electrodes in the streak tube. The deflected beam impinges on the phosphor screen of the streak tube where the time interval of the streak image is measured.

摘要: A laser pulse train jitter measuring device includes a first optical path having a length set at a first value or a second value and a second optical path having a length variable between a first value and a second value. A laser beam is split into a first beam directed to the first optical path and a second beam directed to the second optical path. The split beams are recombined into a correlated beam and recorded as visible images so that jitter in the laser beam can be detected from the differences in the recordings when the first optical path has its first length while the second optical path is varied between the first value and the second value from when the first optical path has its second length while the second optical path is varied between the first value and the second value.

摘要: A spatial light modulator consisting of an electron beam source formed within a vacuum envelope and an electro-optic crystal assembly for storing electrons emitted from the electron beam source as a charge to change the optical property thereof. The electro-optic crystal assembly consists of a pair of electro-optic crystal plates of the same materials, i.e., LiNbO.sub.3, LiTaO.sub.3, or Bi.sub.12 SiO.sub.20. As an example, LiNbO.sub.3 is cut in such a way that the normal to its surface is located in the (-Y, Z) plane and makes an angle of 55 degrees with the Z-axis. The electro-optic crystal assembly further consists of a pair of electro-optic crystal plates having different thickness which are combined through a transparent conductive film so that the surface of the thinner electro-optic crystal plate faces the electron beam.

摘要: An instrument for measuring light pulses generated at a high repetition rate comprising a streaking tube and optical means for directing the light pulses to a photocathode layer forming part of the streaking tube. A signal synchronized with the light pulses is combined with a control signal in a delay circuit having an output coupled to deflection electrodes in the streaking tube, electrons emitted from the photocathode being deflected by the voltage applied to the deflection electrodes and impinging on a phosphor layer to form a streaking image. A sampling means is positioned adjacent the phospher layer for picking up a portion of the streaking image and coupling it to a photoelectric multiplier tube. The outputs of the photomultiplier tube and the control signal are connected to an output device for displaying the photomultiplier output as a function of the control signal.

摘要: In an automatic brightness control feedback loop for controlling the bias voltage of a microchannel plate of an image intensifier tube, there are provided a gas discharge tube and a photoconductor which is photoelectrically coupled with the gas discharge tube. The brightness of the gas discharge tube is controlled depending on the phosphor screen current. An ordinary automatic brightness control and also the blinking when the incident light is excessive can be made by having the bias voltage of the microchannel plate depend on the resistance of the photoconductor.

摘要: An X-ray detecting element detects an image produced by X-ray irradiation. An apparatus case capable of being inserted into a mouth has an X-ray irradiation face having different dimensions in two directions perpendicular to each other, and houses the X-ray detecting element. A cable is connected to the apparatus case to transmit a signal from the X-ray detecting element to the outside of the apparatus case. The cable is drawn out from the apparatus case in a direction which is parallel with the X-ray irradiation face and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the X-ray irradiation face. According to this configuration, the cable does not obstruct the imaging operation in a course of imaging teeth in a mouth, particularly a molar portion. Therefore, an imaging operation can be easily conducted without giving the subject an unpleasant feeling.

摘要: An apparatus and method for producing positive and negative ions and/or electrons in a gas of any atmosphere without producing dust, a method and structure for neutralizing a charged body in a short period of time and for completely preventing static electricity from being generated, and various apparatuses and structures, such as a conveyor, wet bench, and clean room, which use the neutralizing method and structure. The gaseous ion producing apparatus produces positive and negative ions and/or electrons in a gas by irradiating, with electromagnetic waves in a soft X-ray region, the gas under a high pressure, atmospheric pressure, or reduced pressure. In the neutralizing structure an X-ray unit is arranged at an appropriate place to apply the electromagnetic waves in a soft X-ray region to the atmospheric gas surrounding a charged body.
