Abstract:
A coating apparatus for coating a rollable device including a device rotator having a pair of rollers and spray nozzle is described. The spray nozzle produces a spray of coating material that is directed towards a gap that is between the rollers of the pair. The majority of any spray not deposited on the rollable device during a coating process passes through the gap between the rollers.
Abstract:
A coater and drier system for uniformly depositing a film on a substrate or backing member. A vacuum bar positioned under the substrate is utilized to smooth out and make the substrate uniform as it passes beneath a spreader bar member or roller member in order to provide a layer of film forming liquid material on a substrate of a prespecified thickness.
Abstract:
A coating station, which in intended for coating a web with a coating material, includes a load-bearing and cross-directional frame extending substantially across the entire width of the web. The coating station also includes applicator elements supported to the frame. The frame is arranged by at least one cross component formed out of sheet metal into a box-type structure, the cross component extending substantially across the entire width of the web. The cross component is attached to the end components by its end parts.
Abstract:
A nozzle array for use in the coating of a mobile web-like material has a plurality of high-pressure nozzles (2.1, 2.2) in the transverse direction of the web. The nozzles (2.1, 2.2) have been classified by a variable acting on the flow so that the deviation of the variable within the array is smaller than a pre-set value. The yield of each nozzle being the same with optimal precision, an optimally even coating is achieved on the web.

Abstract:
An assembly is disclosed treating a moving web (1) of paper or paperboard with a web treatment substance, the assembly comprising an application chamber (P2) located in a close vicinity of the moving web (1) and facing the web (1), whereby the chamber is delineated by the web (1), the walls (12) of the coater apparatus and sealing means (18, 24, 35) adapted to operate at the web ingoing and outgoing sides of the application chamber (P2). For application of the web treatment substance, the assembly includes at least one linear nozzle array incorporating at least one nozzle (21) for spraying the web treatment substance onto the web (1). The coater apparatus is divided into chambers so that a suction chamber (P3) is located behind the application chamber (P2) as seen from the direction of the web (1) and is adapted to communicate with application chamber (P2), and a flow is established into the suction chamber (P3) and the application chamber (P2) for removing mist and accumulations of the web treatment substance in such a manner that the pressure of the application chamber (P2) is made lower than the ambient pressure and the pressure of the suction chamber (P3) lower than that of the application chamber. In the assembly, the free flow direction of substances contained in the assembly is firstly from the surroundings into the application chamber (P2) and then from the application chamber (P2) to the suction chamber (P3) and means (22) serving to establish the flow.
Abstract:
The invention provides an apparatus and method which can be utilized to apply a thin layer of viscous coating material to an elongated continuously moving filament whereby the filament can be cabled, coated, and spooled in a continuous operation. The apparatus has a coating material applicator to deliver a flowable material, an air applicator to supply compressed air, a mixer to mix the flowable material and compressed air, a delivery means to spray the mixed flowable material and air onto a filament, and a coating chamber through which the filament passes. The chamber has a material collector and a coating die, and a sealing attachment with an exit hole is located beneath the coating chamber. The filament is sprayed before it travels into the material collector.
