The bearing seal (2) includes a splash plate (3) configured as a preseal, which is supported on an axially and radially oriented contour (12) of the second bearing part (7), and together with the wheel bearing flange (8), axially defines a catch channel (24). A seal fitting (4) is fixed to the first bearing part (5) by a reinforcement (22), wherein the reinforcement (22) is enclosed by an elastic sealing material (21), at least in some areas, from which sealing lips (20, 28, 29) are formed, which are grindingly or non-grindingly associated with the splash plate (3). Between the splash plate (3), which abuts, in a line or surface contact, the radially oriented wheel bearing flange (8) via a support zone (10), and the sealing fitting (4), a sealing labyrinth (16) is provided. By way of a resiliently flexible fastening section (11), the splash plate (3) is pressed onto the cylindrical contour (12) of the second bearing part (7) and is pre-stressed in an end position.

    摘要: In a sealed rolling bearing for use in an environment where a large amount of water is splashed and the internal pressure of the bearing becomes negative, a ratio of the difference between an outer diameter of a seal sliding contact surface of an inner race and an inner diameter of a seal lip of an elastic seal member in its natural state to a diameter of a roll neck portion (shaft) on which the inner race is fitted is in the range of 0.27 to 0.40%. This provides reduced frictional heat generation of the seal lip and adequate pressing force applied to the seal lip, thus securing excellent seal performance without requiring an additional mechanism, such as a vent to a contact seal.

    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member formed on its outer circumference with a body mounting flange to be mounted on a suspension of a vehicle. Its inner circumference includes double row outer raceway surfaces. An inner member includes a wheel hub formed on one end with a wheel mounting flange. A cylindrical portion axially extends from the flange. An inner ring or an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint is press-fit onto the outer circumference of the wheel hub. The inner ring is formed on its outer circumference with inner raceway surfaces arranged opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces. Double row rolling elements are freely rollably contained between the outer and inner raceway surfaces of the outer and inner members, via cages. Seals are mounted within annular openings formed between the outer and the inner members. A backup seal is fit onto the outer circumference of the outer side end of the outer member. The backup seal has a metal core that includes a cylindrical fitting portion and an upstanding portion that extends radially outward from the fitting portion. A sealing member is integrally adhered to the metal core. The sealing member has a side lip formed so that it extends radially outward from the metal core and inclines toward the inner side surface of the wheel mounting flange to slidably contact the flange, via a predetermined interference.
