摘要: An x-ray source includes an optical communications link to provide a galvanically isolated communication between a system controller and a gun controller. In specific examples, the link is provided through one or more fibers. In addition, the gun controller is preferably remote programmed by the system controller during startup. This addresses the problem of reprogramming a processor in a hard to access location/environment. A watchdog timer is also useful for the gun digital processor of the gun controller.

摘要: A motion-enable device includes a mechanical switch and a capacitive sensor with a sensing region that is located adjacent to the mechanical switch. The mechanical switch enables a first signal when closed or actuated that indicates that the mechanical switch is in an active state. The capacitive sensor enables a second signal when a conductive object is disposed in the sensing region, where the second signal indicates that the capacitive sensor is in an active state. Enablement of operation of an apparatus depends on receipt of both the first signal and the second signal. The mechanical switch and the capacitive sensor act as the two separate switches required by functional safety requirements for a motion enable device. Because the sensing region of the capacitive sensor is adjacent to the mechanical switch, the first and second signals are generated when an operator actuates the mechanical switch with a single digit.

摘要: An imaging system (100) includes a radiation source (110) with a focal spot (204) that emits a beam of x-ray photons that traverses an examination region (106). The imaging system further includes a photon counting detector array (122) that detects a sub-set of the x-ray photons that traverse an examination region. The imaging system further includes a controller (116) that generates and transmits a pause signal, in response to a calculated drop in an intensity of the emitted the beam of x-ray photons below a predetermined intensity level, which causes the photon counting detector array to pause detecting the sub-set of the x-ray photons. The imaging system further includes a counter (136) that counts, for each of a plurality of counting periods, the x-ray photons of the sub-set detected by the photon counting detector array in the corresponding counting period.

The systems and methods involve high speed switching (on the order of milliseconds) to generate pulsed exposure of X-ray radiation to the patient, reducing radiation dose by 4-8 fold, or more.

摘要: According to on embodiment, an inverter high voltage generator includes a DC power supply, an inverter, a high voltage converter, a discharge detector, a controller. The DC power supply generates a direct current. The inverter converts the direct current from the DC power supply to an alternating current by switching. The high voltage converter converts an AC output pulse from the inverter to a high voltage. The discharge detector detects an electric discharge that has occurred in an X-ray tube. The controller controls, upon detection of the discharge, switching of the inverter to change a pulse width or a frequency of the AC output pulse from the inverter so as to gradually increase a measured tube voltage value of the X-ray tube up to a target tube voltage value.
