Abstract:
There is provided a method by which a member having an undercut in the inner peripheral portion thereof can be formed readily. To form a material (1) formed with a recess (2) and the undercut (3) by using a swaging device, while the material (1) is first gripped by a damper (11), and a mandrel (12) is inserted into the recess (2) of the material (1). The mandrel (12) used has an outside diameter equal to the inside diameter of a blind hole of an aimed product (fuel injection nozzle). Then, the material (1) is pushed in by the mandrel (12) to a position at which the material (1) abuts on a stopper (13), and the outside surface of the material (1) is struck by swaging dies (8) to perform a swaging operation. This swaging operation reduces the inside diameter of the recess (2) to the outside diameter of the mandrel (12), with the undercut (3) left.
Abstract:
Hard thread milling methods and equipment provide more precise alignment for a threadably retained component A fuel injector body with a cavity for a solenoid valve is processed by steps including heat treatment before milling threads and also milling a planar seal face to which the threads are located in precise perpendicularly so a high pressure fuel line can be reliably sealed.
Abstract:
A movable scroll element for a scroll type compressor is produced by a combination of a mold casting process and a machining process. The mold casting process produces a cast product having an end-plate forming portion, a spiral-member-forming portion and a projecting portion for forming a drive power receiving portion. The cast product has an entire outer faces covered with black scale, and the machining process machines the end-plate-forming portion, a spiral member forming portion, the projecting portion by cutting. Nevertheless, at least an outer circumference of the drive power receiving portion, i.e., a boss portion of the movable scroll element is covered with an outermost layer consisting of black scale. Thus, a sufficient mechanical strength of the movable scroll element is obtained even if the wall thickness of the drive power receiving portion, i.e., the boss portion of the movable scroll element, is reduced.
Abstract:
An NC lathe includes a bed, a headstock mounted on the bed for rotating a work around C-axis, a tailstock slidably mounted on a first guide surface formed on the bed, and a carriage slidably mounted on a second guide surface formed on the bed in a direction of Z-axis parallel to the C-axis and juxtaposed with the first guide surface. The carriage has a saddle having a first slide surface for contacting the second guide surface of the bed and a second slide surface inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the first slide surface. A slide base is slidably mounted on the second slide surface of the saddle for movement in a direction of Y-axis perpendicular to the Z-axis. A column extends from the slide base substantially perpendicular thereto and includes a column body which has a guide surface in a direction of X-axis perpendicular to the Z-axis and to the Y-axis. A cross slide is slidably mounted on the guide surface of the column body in the direction of the X-axis and includes a driving device. A tool spindle is rotatably mounted on the cross slide around B-axis perpendicular to the X-axis and to the Z axis and has a spindle rotatable around an axis perpendicular to the B-axis.
Abstract:
A drag bit mold fabricated from high temperature resisting material is machined to accept cylindrically shaped polycrystalline diamond cutters (PCD) having tungsten carbide bodies. Each of the multiple PCD matrix pockets in the mold is formed by two independent non-parallel end mill passes. The first end mill cut defines the PCD cutter position in the cutting face of the matrix diamond drag bit. The second end mill cut superimposed over the first end mill pocket creates a surrounding pocket which fills with powder metallurgy matrix material to provide support for the cylindrical cutter.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing of artificial teeth, in which a primary and a secondary part of the artificial tooth or the denture are preformed, then grooves for receiving a connecting element are produced in both parts by sparking erosion, and the connecting element is inserted thereafter into the secondary and primary parts. In order to precisely align the grooves in both parts of the denture those grooves may be formed by sparking erosion in one working step.
Abstract:
A method for forming a precision ball groove track in a part, especially in an outer race member of a universal joint. The method includes the steps of forming a recess groove in the ball race groove track and ball finish machining the race groove track to a predetermined precision shape, the recess reducing groove the wear on the finish machining tool used during the finish machining step.
Abstract:
A millimeter coupled cavity travelling wave tube has its slow wave structures formed by a hobbing process. In a preferred construction, each slow wave structure is made of two individual halves each extending for the length of the structure. Each half contains one half of each cavity and one half of each beam hole and all of the portions of cavity and portions of beam hole in each half are formed in one hobbing operating. Coupling holes between cavities are formed where required by a process (e.g. spark erosion) separate from hobbing and if ferrules or drift tubes are required to extend out of the cavity separating walls in the finished tube, the beam coupling holes are made oversized and individual ferrules are brazed into position. The two halves of the slow wave structure are united by furnace brazing.
Abstract:
A fixture 34 for positioning a shroud 22 of a worn rotor blade 14 with respect to an apparatus for removing material is disclosed. The fixture is formed of a base 42, an axial locator 44 which is adapted to engage the root 18 of the rotor blade, and a tangential locator 46 which engages the root of the rotor blade at a hinge joint 58 and which engages the airfoil 20 of the rotor blade. A method of restoring a shroud of the rotor blade axially with respect to the root and tangentially with respect to the airfoil is also disclosed. In an alternate embodiment, a second locator 160 for indexing the locator from an airfoil edge is included.
Abstract:
A rotor for a rotary slide-vane vacuum pump and a method of producing same comprises providing two rotor sections, each having a shaft stub, a rotor portion and a plane or contact surface produced by lathing, forming axial slot portions for accommodate one or more slide vanes through the contact surfaces, assembling the two rotor sections by the use of an assembling jig and fixedly joining the sections together and finishing the external surfaces of the assembled rotor with respect to at least one of length and diameter while the rotor is held in one and the same fixture.
