摘要: A method for connecting the screen of at least one screened electrical cable to an electrical link wire includes stripping insulation from the cable and the link wire, coating at least one of the stripped parts of the cable and of the link wire to be connected with an electrically conductive adhesive, after which the parts to be connected are placed facing each other. A tape of heat-shrinkable insulating material is then wound around the parts, and heat-shrunk to form the desired connection.

摘要: A method of manufacturing is disclosed for the installation of a one piece damper member for retaining the midpoint of a torsion tube on the torsional axis of a channel-shaped cross beam vehicle rear axle. The damper member is formed during the axle assembly line advancement by injecting a first mass of hardenable urethane paste material into a side gap portion and arcuate shaped central gap portion of a D-shaped recess defined intermediate the channel interior and the tube. A second mass of the urethane paste material is injected into the remaining side gap portion and channel upper open end space. As an adjunct to the axle being advanced through assembly line washing, wax coating and heat treating operations the first and second masses coalesce and attain an accelerated final curing of the tube retaining damper member.

摘要: A concrete structure including a rigid three-dimensional lattice of concrete bars which are interconnected at nodes. The lattice is constituted by an assembly of prefabricated cast blocks, in which each block comprises a node and a plurality of arms (14) radiating from the node. Each arm has at least one longitudinal socket with an opening in the free end of the arm, and the arms of two blocks are assembled in aligned end-to end pairs to constitute the bars of the lattice. The sockets of assembled arms are in alignment and contain a common metal reinforcing member, and the junction zone of the arms is surrounded by a clamping sleeve, with the sockets being filled with hardened mortar. The lattice is prestressed by prestress cavles passing outside the bars of the lattice and fixed to some nodes of the lattice.

摘要: A medical electrode intended for short term use has a disposable electrode pad provided with a socket and a reusable electrode conductor which is attached to a lead wire and which has a ridged body adapted to enter and be retained by the socket. The pad includes a pair of spaced foam sheets with patient-contacting adhesive layers on their lower surfaces. An electrolyte gel matrix, preferably formed from conductive adhesive urethane hydrogel, is located between the foam sheets. The socket is formed in a relatively stiff socket plate that overlies the gel matrix and the foam sheets. The socket includes a bore located over the gel matrix shaped to receive the electrode conductor, which is slightly larger than the bore, and may optionally include outwardly extending slits projecting from the bore. A method of manufacturing a strip of the electrode pads on a release liner on a continuous basis is disclosed. In a modification for longer term monitoring uses, the electrode pads are constructed to confine the gel matrix to avoid gel dry out and the socket and the conductor are provided with a cooperating key and keyway for restraining relative movements therebetween.

摘要: An assembly apparatus is disclosed for assembling a first element having opposed end surfaces within a second element so as to leave the end surfaces exposed subsequent to the application of an adhesive material. The apparatus includes a pair of elastomeric seals, each seal having an axially inner surface for contacting an end surface of the first element, the edge of the axially internal surface acting to position the end surfaces of the first element wholly within the edge of the internal surface. Each seal also includes a step spaced a preselected distance outside of the internal surface edge for positioning the second element generally coaxially with respect to the first element. The lower seal includes apertures for permitting the introduction of adhesive material between the first and second elements while the upper seal includes apertures to permit venting of the space between the first and second elements, the venting apertures leading to a reservoir for receiving any overfill of the adhesive material.

摘要: A vacuum (15) as applied to a porous contoured mold (18) for drawing an impervious adhesive film (16) against a cloth fabric layer (14) to conform the cloth fabric layer (14) to the contours of the mold surface. A matching cellular foam cushion pad (12) is placed in mating engagement with the adhesive film (16) as it is held to the contour of the mold surface by the vacuum. The foam pad (12) is compressed against the mold (18) by a perforated platen (36) and held in place as the vacuum is discontinued. Steam is then supplied through the porous mold (12) to heat and diffuse the adhesive film (16) into the adjacent fabric layer (14) and cellular foam pad (12) for adhesively securing the two together. A partial vacuum is then applied for removing moisture by drawing air through the perforations (44) of the platen (36), the foam pad (12), fabric layer (14) and porous mold (18). This ambient air also cools and cures the diffused adhesive between the fabric (14) and the foam (12).

摘要: A method of manufacturing a shape from a composite material by applying laminations impregnated with plastic resin to a positive mold. At least one cellular, cellular-core layer is applied into the neutral zone of the laminations and embedded into them while the laminations are being built up. The cellular layer is a rigid foam. The cellular-core or honeycomb layer has the axis of each cell radial to that of the shape and can be single, double, or multiple. If double or multiple it may have an interior connective layer consisting of plastic, foil, glass cloth, non-woven carbon-fiber fabric, polyimide, or woven or non-woven fabric impregnated with plastic resin. The cellular-core or honeycomb layer is intended to make the shape more stable and flexurally strong.

摘要: A process of making slabs for use as table tops, or other decorative purposes, comprising an array of individual stones arranged in mosaic patterns. A base of hard, essentially nonwarping wood is cut to the desired outline of the final slab and supported on a spacer member in a horizontal position above the level of a work surface. Border stones are placed upon the work surface to extend upwardly therefrom a predetermined, uniform distance essentially even with the surface of the base about the periphery thereof, and mosaic stones are arranged in a desired pattern within the border stones. A flexible constraining member is placed about the border stones and a layer of polyester resin in liquid state is poured over the mosaic and border stones to fill the interstices and to bond the stones to the wood base. After the resin hardens the exposed surfaces of the stones are polished and excess resin removed by buffing. The slab is inverted and the opposite surface is covered with resin to the level of the border stones, either before or after the polishing of the top surface. At least some of the stones are preferably shaped along edge portions thereof to provide an overlap of adjacent stones, giving added lateral stability.
