    Abstract: A headset includes at least one earpiece, at least one speaker coupled to the at least one earpiece, at least one sensor, and control circuitry. The at least one sensor, in operation, detects whether the at least one earpiece is abutting at least one ear of a person and outputs at least one sensor signal indicating whether the at least one earpiece is abutting the at least one ear of the person. The control circuitry, in operation, receives the at least one sensor signal from the at least one sensor, and causes at least one control signal to be provided to an external device responsive to detecting at least one change in a state of the at least one sensor signal from the at least one sensor. The at least one control signal is configured to cause the external device to pause or un-pause playing of content.

    Abstract: Customer service calls to media service providers are addressed by remotely monitoring and diagnosing the customer's installed equipment. Such remote diagnosis decreases the need for assistance from customer service representatives and on-site repair technicians. In a method of operating a customer service routing system for a media service provider, subscriber equipment is first identified and then data specific to the subscriber equipment is collected. Relevant data can be maintained as an equipment health history in a database that is updated periodically by automatic monitoring. The database can be located within a remote server. Equipment data can be extracted automatically and relayed directly to the subscriber, thereby bypassing interaction with a customer service representative.

The television receiver may send to a computer system a request to repair the at least one gap in content within the instance of recorded programming.     Abstract: An automated test platform is disclosed for use in developing and troubleshooting customized software for multimedia content receivers. The automated test platform allows developers to script test cases that permit interaction with multiple content receivers at the same time. The test platform can be applied generally to any client-server system. The automated test platform is used to create scripts, run the scripts on multiple content receivers, and view test results. A graphical user interface (GUI) is provided that allows technicians without any programming experience to build and run complex interactive test sequences in a modular fashion. Such an automated test platform can be used to test cable and satellite television set top boxes, as well as DVD players, streaming media receivers, and game consoles.
