Abstract:
A method of predicting disk drive failure at a central processing facility using an evolving drive failure prediction algorithm (DFPA) is disclosed. A set of quality metric values are transmitted from each of a plurality of remote disk drives to the central processing facility. The DFPA is executed at the central processing facility in response to the quality metric values to detect an impending failure of at least one of the remote disk drives. The DFPA is evolved at the central processing facility in response to a reference data base of quality metric values and a corresponding failure indicator. The processes is repeated so as to improve the accuracy of the DFPA over time.
Abstract:
Wireless power transmittal apparatus and systems are disclosed in which transmitter and receiver inductors, or coils, are coupled in configurations for wirelessly transferring power and/or data among them. In preferred implementations, a plurality of non-coplanar primary side coils are provided in power transmittal apparatus for transmitting power, or power and data.
Abstract:
Coupled inductor signal transfer systems are disclosed in which transmitter and receiver coils are inductively coupled in a configuration for wirelessly transferring power and/or data signals. In preferred implementations, the systems may be used for transmitting both power and data. Preferred embodiments of the invention have at least one multi-tap coil on the primary side and/or secondary side of the system. The selection of taps enables the effective size and/or number of coils to be dynamically changed according to operational needs.
Abstract:
Crystals of a solvated cerium(III) halide solvate complex resulted from a process of forming a paste of a cerium(III) halide in an ionic liquid, adding a solvent to the paste, removing any undissolved solid, and then cooling the liquid phase. Diffusing a solvent vapor into the liquid phase also resulted in crystals of a solvated cerium(III) halide complex.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing an MDF board from pulp from a fibrous lignocellulose material using a treatment or pretreatment step which exposes the material to oxalic acid or oxalic acid derivatives (particularly dialkyl ester derivatives, particularly in the vapor phase). The treated wood is then subjected to a sugar extraction wash and refined using any one of the several pulping methods to produce a final pulp product. Once this is done the pulp is used to make MDF boards having improved water repellency properties.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for programming a floating gate. A floating gate tunneling device is used with an analog comparing device in a circuit having a floating reference node and an offset-mitigating feedback loop for iteratively programming a floating gate, or multiple floating gates.
Abstract:
The invention provides circuits, systems, and methods for monitoring a non-volatile memory (NVM) cell, or an array of NVM cells. The monitor is capable of switching from a normal operating state to an evaluation state, monitoring for one or more particular characteristics, and returning to the normal operating state. Alternative embodiments of the invention are disclosed using various triggers and producing outputs capable of reporting or feeding back to influence the operation of the monitoring systems and methods, the NVM circuitry, or an external system. The invention includes an energy conservation feature, in that no power is consumed in the normal operating state, and low power in the evaluation state.
Abstract:
Contentual metadata of an extended cache is stored within the extended cache. The contentual metadata of the extended cache is approximated utilizing a counting Bloom filter. The counting Bloom filter is stored within a primary cache. Contentual metadata of the primary cache is stored within the primary cache. One of a data read or a data write is executed without accessing the contentual metadata of the extended cache stored within the extended cache.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a method for communication between an initiator system and a block storage cluster. The method may comprise receiving an initial data request from the initiator system to a first storage system, a portion of the data requested in the initial data request is not stored by the first storage system, but is stored by a second storage system; retrieving the portion of the data that is stored by the second storage system; forwarding the portion of the data to the initiator system; and transmitting a referral list comprising at least one referral from the first storage system to the initiator system, wherein the initiator system is configured for maintaining a referral cache based on the referral list, and a subsequent data request initiated by the initiator system is directed to the block storage cluster based on the referral cache.
Abstract:
The polishing method uses a polishing solution for removing barrier materials in the presence of interconnect metals and dielectrics. The polishing solution comprises, by weight percent, 0.1 to 10 hydrogen peroxide, at least one pH adjusting agent selected from the group consisting of nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid for adjusting a pH level of the polishing solution to less than 3, at least 0.0025 benzotriazole inhibitor for reducing removal rate of the interconnect metals, 0 to 10 surfactant, 0.01 to 10 colloidal silica having an average particle size of less than 50 nm and balance water and incidental impurities. The polishing solution has a tantalum nitride material to copper selectivity of at least 3 to 1 and a tantalum nitride to TEOS selectivity of at least 3 to 1.
