Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for masking power usage of co-processors on field-programmable gate arrays. In some examples, one or more moat brick circuits may be implemented around a co-processor loaded on a held-programmable gate array (FPGA). The moat brick circuits may be configured to use negative feedback and/or noise to mask the power usage variations of the co-processor from other co-processors on the FPGA.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described herein for electrocaloric effect heat transfer devices and methods effective to facilitate thermal energy transfer while mitigating mechanical stresses caused by expansion or contraction of electrocaloric effect material layers during thermal energy transfer operations. Some example heat transfer devices may include heat transfer stacks with at least two electrocaloric effect materials. Expanding electrocaloric effect material and contracting electrocaloric effect material are utilized to cancel the aggregate longitudinal dimensional change during application of an electric field. Some example heat transfer devices may utilize segmented electrocaloric effect material layers with stress relief gaps separating segments to mitigate delamination stress caused by lateral expansion or contraction of the electrocaloric effect material.
Abstract:
Techniques are generally described for touch-sensitive devices with biometric information determination capabilities. The touch-sensitive device may include one or more of a transmitter, a receiver, and a processor. The transmitter may be configured to emit light towards a surface of the touch-sensitive device and the receiver may be configured to receive reflected light from a touch to the touch-sensitive device. The processor may be arranged to receive signals from the receiver and determines biometric information, and in some examples location of touch, based on the signals.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for microfluidic channel devices. Some example devices may include a substrate having a substrate surface, with an array of drive electrode assemblies disposed upon the substrate surface. The drive electrode assemblies may be arranged along a path. Each drive electrode assembly may include one or more of a drive electrode layer, a dielectric layer and/or a stationary phase layer. The device may further include a plate including a plate surface. The device may further include a reference electrode configured on the plate surface to face the stationary phase layer of the drive electrode assemblies and separated from the substrate surface by a distance. The device may further include a voltage source effective to output a voltage potential, the voltage source configured in communication with the drive electrode assembly and the reference electrode. The device may further include an electrode selector effective to control the voltage source.
Abstract:
Technologies related to dynamic reconfiguration of programmable hardware are generally described. In some examples, coprocessor regions in programmable hardware such as a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) may be dynamically assigned to transition the FPGA from a starting arrangement of coprocessor regions to an efficient arrangement. A placement algorithm may be executed to determine the efficient arrangement, and a path finding algorithm may be executed to determine path finding operations leading from the starting arrangement to the efficient arrangement. The path finding operations may be performed to implement the transition.
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for allocating pages in a flash memory. Some example technologies may receive multiple data elements and a write request to write the multiple data elements to the flash memory. Example technologies may identify a correlation between a subset of the data elements based on correlation criteria. Example technologies may allocate neighboring pages of the flash memory for storing the subset of the data elements. Example technologies may write the subset of the data elements into the allocated pages.
Abstract:
Hydrophilic coating compositions and methods to make and use the compositions are disclosed. The coatings include one or more amphiphilic cyclodextrins, with one or more hydrophilic groups in place of primary hydroxyl groups, and one or more hydrophobic groups in place of secondary hydroxyl groups. The hydrophobic surface of the cyclodextrin faces the binder particles, while the hydrophilic surface is exposed to the exterior, thus providing a hydrophilic and self-cleaning property to the coating.
Abstract:
Techniques are generally described relating to methods, apparatuses and articles of manufactures for scheduling and/or organizing execution of tasks on a computing platform. In various embodiments, the method may include identifying successively one or more critical time intervals, and scheduling and/or organizing task execution for each of the one or more identified critical time intervals. In various embodiments, one or more tasks to be executed may be scheduled to execute based in part on their execution completion deadlines. In various embodiments, organizing one or more tasks to execute may include selecting a virtual operating mode of the platform using multiple operating speeds lying on a convexity energy-speed envelope of the platform. Intra-task delay caused by switching operating mode may be considered. Other embodiments may also be described and/or claimed.
