    摘要: A method of making a laminated multi-layer data carrier includes laminating a core layer, an intermediate substrate carrying an IC module, electrical contact pads, and electrical leads connecting the IC module to the contact pads, and a cover layer having contact apertures therein together under heat and pressure so that the IC module is pressed into the core layer and protected within the central core of the carrier while the contact pads are pressed outwardly into the apertures of the cover layer so that the contact pads are flush with the surface of the cover layer. Alternative embodiments are described wherein the core layer supports the contact pads in the apertures of the cover layer and where the laminating process is carried out such that the substrate is anchored between the core and cover layers.

During production a carrier element equipped with an integrated circuit and contact surfaces is inserted into a recess in the data carrier blank. To allow for the carrier element to be fixed in the recess, said element is underlaid with a melt adhesive film. To protect the integrated circuit from mechanical stresses, a film strip made of a material with high elastic deformability is provided additionally between the circuit and the melt adhesive film.

In the data carrier arrangement described, the integrated circuit (1) has along with the data memory (2) a counter (3) consisting of a plurality of stages, and a control and security logic (4), the counter (3) being operable only in one predetermined direction, the size of the data memory (2) being selected such that its memory cells are adapted to the steps of the counter, and the control and security logic (4) controlling, among other things, the data transfer between the memory (2) and the counter (3) in such a way that before each use of the data carrier the current memory value is transferred to the counter and after use of the data carrier the memory content is updated with the new counter reading.

    摘要: In order to simplify the production of an identification card having a colored magnetic track, it is proposed that the magnetic track located on the laminating or transfer band be masked by a white layer of color. By applying the white masked magnetic track to a white colored card layer or to a transparent layer to be underlaid with a white colored layer, one produces a completely user-neutral semifinished product. This iniformly designed semifinished product can then be provided on one or both sides with the particular printed pattern desired as one chooses. the design being selected without any separate consideration of the stripe area.

    摘要: A separating apparatus, to which the sheet material is transported in stacks via a stack transporting system, comprises a movable retaining means which reduces the separating gap before the stack is fed and is restored to its original width immediately before separation begins. This allows for the prevention of sheets being wedged in the separating gap, which would otherwise lead to a disturbance of the separation process. The design of a stationary retaining element having an integrated second, movable element allows for the formation of a stopping surface which protrudes beyond the stopping surface of the stationary part and is hit by the leading edges of the sheets in the stack. A toothed design of the new stopping surface allows for the leading edge of the stack of sheet material to be influenced selectively.

    摘要: The integrated circuit embedded in a data carrier and the contact surfaces connected with this circuit are to be protected against bending of the data carrier. For this purpose, the data carrier is divided into two areas, the first one, which bears the circuit and is generally small compared to the second area, being connected to the second area via a predetermined breaking point. Stress which occurs when the data carrier is bent is kept away from the circuit, or transmitted only weakly to it, by the predetermined breaking point.
