摘要： A seal assembly for a bearing housing with an opening therein for receiving a shaft in which a sleeve having an axial bore for receiving the shaft is disposed within the housing opening. The sleeve has a plurality of outwardly extending annular ribs engaging annular grooves on the inner circumference of the housing opening to provide a labyrinth seal section. The sleeve also supports a V-ring seal disposed externally of the labyrinth section which has a sealing lip which extends outwardly at an angle from the sleeve of less than 90.degree. towards the side of one of the ribs on the housing. Disposed between the sealing lip and the rib of the housing opening is a disc washer which has an inner diameter which is greater than the outer diameter of the sleeve but less than the outer diameter of the V-ring lip portion, which cooperates with the sealing lip portion of the V-ring seal to provide a sealing contact with the washer. This portion of the disc washer is composed of a metallic material such as steel. Disposed about the outer circumference of the disc washer is a compressible rubber material which is compressed into an annular groove which extends about the inner circumference of the opening in the bearing housing.

摘要： A motor and associated gear system share an extended shaft axial with the motor. A rotor and a driving gear are attached to the shaft. Such an integral gearmotor concept minimizes coupling and sealing problems associated with prior art coupled motors and speed reducers. Particular housing features further enhance integrated advantages of the invention. Also, a reduction in the number of separate parts and use of a shim technique for establishing the stator/rotor air gap of the motor reduces prior art manufacturing costs associated with high precision borings while maintaining the accuracy of critical air gap characteristics. The shim feature of this invention is also equally and generally applicable to the establishment of air gaps in motors other than the present integral gearmotor.

摘要： A speed reducer apparatus includes an auxiliary seal assembly to inhibit ingress of particulate matter. Preferably, the seal assembly is located axially outboard of a primary seal, such as a land riding seal. The seal assembly includes a plate defining a hole through which a rotatable member extends. The hole is sized to provide a predetermined gap between the inside surface of the plate and the outside surface of the rotatable member. An annular bead member is set in place from a viscous state about the rotatable member. In particular, the annular bead member extends across the gap between the plate and the rotatable member, functioning as a dam. Methods of forming the auxiliary seal assembly are also disclosed.

摘要： An electromechanical machine includes a stator fixed with respect to a housing structure and a rotor fixed with respect to a driven shaft. The stator includes a magnetically permeable core having a plurality of parallel winding slots containing driven windings. Coilheads are located at opposite axial ends of the magnetically permeable core where the windings turn to extend down a parallel winding slot. The motor is also equipped with an auxiliary winding arrangement to reduce capacitive coupling between the stator and rotor during operation. The auxiliary winding arrangement comprises grounded auxiliary windings located in the winding slots and the inside surface of the coilheads to interpose the driven windings and the rotor.

摘要： An expert manufacturing system generates a manufacturing plan for producing a part in an automated manufacturing system. The expert manufacturing system generates a multipurpose manufacturing geometry definitions file. The expert manufacturing system includes a rule-based expert system which uses the manufacturing geometry definitions file to generate the manufacturing plan in the form of a neutral source code file. The neutral source code is converted to machine-specific program code directly executable by a device controller, such as a logic controller or motion controller. The expert manufacturing system also includes a parametric drawing generation program for generating drawing of the part, and a computer simulation program for simulating the manufacturing plan for producing the part.

摘要： A brushless DC motor and drive package is disclosed, including modular subassemblies which are integrated into a single unit. The drive includes power electronic circuitry and related control circuitry which is supported on a circuit board within the package. The circuit board is supported on an end cap of the motor and is housed within the package housing. The end cap supporting the circuit board preferably forms a bearing support recess for receiving a shaft bearing. The resulting package is extremely compact, and reduces or eliminates the need for separate drive circuitry and related support hardware.

摘要： A method and apparatus for real-time electric motor diagnostics and condition monitoring. While the motor is energized, dynamic operating parameters are determined and a notification signed is generated if predetermined criterion are satisfied. The diagnostic apparatus is integrated with the motor and includes a set of sensors, a processing unit, a memory and an output interface for communicating alarms, warnings and calculated operating parameter values or the like to a display device and to an external supervisor having wireless paging capability to alert a remote operator or maintenance personnel. In a normal operating mode, the processing unit calculates a general class of derived motor operating parameters such as over-temperature, over-voltage, over-current, excessive vibration, and phase imbalance. When an abnormal condition is observed, the processing unit modifies certain data acquisition parameters as necessary to effect an alternative data acquisition strategy which would more likely lead to data dispositive of the condition of the motor.
