Abstract:
A self-powered, self-contained, signage device includes a bistable display with its state-change power received from an actuator handle or pushbutton attached to a mechanically activated generator integral to the display. The device may be integrated into actuating members for various equipment types thereby providing a highly visible status indication of equipment operations.
Abstract:
An interactive method for operating a server to trace the origin of data which results in a display of unsatisfactory Quality of Service for a plurality of wireless communication devices.
Abstract:
A multi-dimensional analysis method for operation of a data server to isolate Quality of Service issues to constituents within major or minor Key Performance Indicators.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device (300) including a voice activity detector (330), and a codec (320) outputting an audio data packet based on a transducer (310) output after the onset of audio input thereto. A control module prompts initiating setup of a temporary block flow when the voice activity detector detects audio input to the transducer. The control module also prompts initiating setup of the temporary block flow before the audio data packet is output to a buffer.
Abstract:
A flexible frame arrangement for a CDMA wireless communications network is disclosed. A signal for transmission in the network includes several frames for transferring data between network nodes. At least one of the frames includes a hierarchical sub-frame structure having a physical layer frame and an interleaver block, a forward error control (FEC) block, and an automatic repeat request (ARQ) block. The sub-frame arrangement may be used in a spread spectrum wireless network such as CDMA2000 or W-CDMA. The FEC blocks transmit error control information and are subdivided into one or more of the ARQ blocks. Each ARQ block includes information bits and overhead bits such as cyclic redundancy code (CRC) bits and zero bits.
Abstract:
A method of determining PTT availability of members of a contact list in a wireless PTT communication system makes efficient use of resources by updating client devices (118, 122, 126) with new PTT contact list status information only when necessary. The availability of client devices (118, 122, 126) associated with contact lists (528, 530, 532) are determined by a PTT controller (112) according to the content of messages from the client devices (118, 122, 126). New information regarding the availability of a client device associated with a contact list (528, 530, 532) is transmitted to relevant client devices (118, 122, 126) only when a change has occurred in the availability of a member. Likewise, a client device (118, 122, 126) notifies the PTT controller 112 of its availability only when a change occurs.
Abstract:
A communications system and method that separates operational aspects of a packet data service to be provided on a wireless network into separate, independent state diagrams. The method first decomposes the communication service into several different service layers. The method then defines a dynamic behavior of the service layers and an interaction therebetween. Once the behavior and interaction between the layers is defined, the method creates a control element with which to coordinate the service layers.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a delay line for providing fine timing adjustment on subsequent edges of an input signal. The delay line comprises a plurality of delay elements for fine tuning the position in time of the timing edges of the input signal. Each delay element has a data input and data output where the data output is connected to the subsequent delay element's data input, thereby forming a delay line with delay elements connected in series. This implementation facilitates the addition of fine increments of delay to be added to the input signal and thereby enable fine tuning of timing edges. Also, included is a wired-OR multiplexor having data inputs connected to the data outputs of the plurality of the delay elements and a control input to select a particular data output to thereby provide an output signal having delayed timing edges.
Abstract:
A process is provided for the catalytic asymmetric reduction of ketones to provide alcohol reaction products which are enriched in one enantiomer. The asymmetric reduction is accomplished utilizing an achiral metal precatalyst in combination with an optically active additive.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for use by dentists in determining the actual length of a root canal based upon a single x-ray picture. The method involves inserting a probe a known distance partially into the root canal before taking the x-ray picture. The picture is then analyzed to compare the visually observed, apparent lengths of the root canal and probe with the known length of the probe. The actual length of the root canal is determined by direct arithmetic proportion based upon the observed apparent lengths. The apparatus facilitates measurement of said observed apparent lengths utilizing manipulating knobs and an illuminated scale resembling a thermometer scale.
