Abstract:
A novel fuel composition contains gasohol plus, as a wear-inhibiting additive, a reaction product of an acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and an amine such as mono-oleyl amine.
Abstract:
A method for preparing a lactone reaction product comprising reacting an alkenyl-succinic acid under substantially anhydrous conditions at elevated temperature ranging up to about 100.degree. in the presence of an .alpha. carbon halogen substituted acetic acid. The .alpha. carbon halogen substituted acetic acid may have from one to three halogen substituents and has a pKa of less than 3.
Abstract:
Unsaturated cyclic keto acids bearing pendant alkyl groups may be prepared by rearranging substituted dicarboxylic acid anhydrides in the presence of a strong Bronsted acid catalyst. The products may be useful as corrosion inhibitors in alcohol fuels and as intermediates in chemical and additive manufacture.
Abstract:
A polymeric lubricant additive that behaves as a viscosity index improver and imparts enhanced anti-oxidancy, dispersancy, and anti-wear properties to said lubricant oil has been prepared. The polymeric substrate is a random co- or terpolymer of ethylene propylene and a third monomer; or a block terpolymer of styrene--ethylenebutylene--styrene where hydrogenation has removed aliphatic unsaturation.Ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or acid anhydride is grafted to these aforementioned substrates and imidized with amino-thiadiazole of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H.sub.2 or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.10) alkyl radical selected from the group consisting of a alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxyl, aralkyl, alkaryl, hydroxyalkyl and aminoalkyl, to produce said polymeric lubricant additive.
Abstract:
An alkylphenoxypolyoxyalkylene amine lactone composition obtained by reacting:(a) a lactone represented by the formula: ##STR1## where n is a number between about 1 and about 5; and (b) an alkylphenoxypolyoxyalkylene amine represented by the formula: ##STR2## in which R' is a hydrocarbyl radical having from about 4 to 30 carbon atoms, x represents a number from about 5 to 50, and R" represents a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 hydrocarbyl radical or any combination of C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 hydrocarbyl radicals, such that the oxyalkylene radical can comprise any combination of repeating C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 oxyalkylene units to form block or random copolymers.
Abstract:
A composition of matter comprising ureas, biurets or allophanates structurally represented, respectively, by ##STR1## where R is hydrogen or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.50) linear or branched aliphatic, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl hydrocarbon; ##STR2## where R is hydrogen or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.50) linear or branched aliphatic, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl hydrocarbon; or ##STR3## where R is hydrogen or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.50) linear or branched aliphatic, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl hydrocarbon.
