Abstract:
A valve actuator for operating a gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine has a sleeve-shaped positioning piston which is connected to a valve stem, has at least two shell-shaped wedge pieces enclosing a stem end of the valve stem, whose radially outer peripheral surfaces have a conical segment which tapers off with increasing distance from the gas exchange valve and which is at least partially surrounded by a conical clamping sleeve having a mating conical inner surface and is connected to the positioning piston. The wedge pieces are axially form-fittingly and rotatably connected to a threaded bolt. A threaded segment is provided on the threaded bolt via which the wedge pieces and the conical clamping sleeve are axially attachable to one another.

Abstract:
A device for controlling an opening cross section in the combustion cylinder of an internal combustion engine is provided, the device having a gas exchange valve integrated into the combustion cylinder and having an actuator which drives the valve element to execute a closing stroke and an opening stroke. A valve brake which is active during a residual closing stroke of the valve element is provided for the purpose of reducing the impact velocity of the valve closure member of the valve element on the valve seat in the closing stroke of the valve element. The valve brake has a hydraulic damping element with a fluid displacement volume which flows out through a throttle cross section of a throttle opening, and a control unit for controlling the throttle cross section as a function of the viscosity of the displacement volume.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques for tailoring the storage of information. In one implementation, a computer program product is operable to cause data processing apparatus to create a framework of elements to present a user with a presentation of options for tailoring an object, receive user input for tailoring the object in response to the presentation of options, define the tailored object to include the first field and the second field, associate an identifier of the first participant with the first field to indicate that the first participant is to be excluded from a first activity performed with the first field, and associate an identifier of the second participant with the second field to indicate that the second participant is to be excluded from a second activity performed with the second field. The received user input can identify a first field to be included in the tailored object, a second field to be included in the tailored object, a first participant, and a second participant. The computer program product can be tangibly embodied in an information carrier.
Abstract:
Various type of jackpot systems are disclosed wherein visible jackpots are replenished after a win by an invisible jackpot. Some embodiments include: replenishing the visible jackpot with less than 100% of the invisible jackpot; increasing the invisible jackpot at a rate faster than the rate at which the visible jackpot is increased; having a criteria for a win of the jackpot based on the amount of the invisible jackpot; and using multiple visible and invisible jackpots in various ways.
Abstract:
Bright noble metal preparations for the production of bright noble metal decoration contain at least one noble metal compound and at least one non-noble metal as flux dissolved in a carrier medium. Preparations according to the invention, which are stoved at 1050 to 1300° C., contain as flux at least one cobalt compound in a quantity of 0.3 to 1.0 wt. %, calculated as CoO, and a chromium compound in a quantity of 0.2 to 0.7 wt. %, calculated as Cr2O3. The ratio by weight of Cr2O3 to CoO is in the range from 1.0-2.3.
Abstract:
A connection between a shaft end of a gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine and a sleevelike actuating piston of a valve actuator, has at least two shell-like key pieces, surrounding the shaft end and on whose radially outer circumferential surface there is a conically tapering portion, pointing away from a combustion chamber of the engine, and extending in complementary fashion to the cone angle of a radially inner conical portion of a conical fastening sleeve that includes the key pieces, and the conical fastening sleeve and the key pieces can be braced axially against one another. Protrusions and recesses engaging one another are provided on the radially inner circumferential surface of the key pieces and on the radially outer circumferential surface of the shaft end of the gas exchange valve. The conical fastening sleeve is formed by the actuating piston and the actuating piston and the key pieces have threaded portions that can be screwed into one another.
Abstract:
A novel melting gasifier (7) is disclosed, in which material at least largely comprising metal is melted in a fluidized bed. The latter is maintained by oxygen-containing gas laterally injected through approximately equidistant nozzles in the lower part of the melting gasifier. A carbon carrier and from above the material to be melted are also introduced into the melting gasifier. Over at least part of the fluidized bed height, the gasifier has a horizontal cross-section, which has different dimensions in two directions perpendicular to one another. The nozzles can project by different amounts into the gasifier vessel.
Abstract:
One embodiment of a semiconductor device includes a semiconductor body with a first side and a second side opposite to the first side. The semiconductor device further includes a first contact trench extending into the semiconductor body at the first side. The first contact trench includes a first conductive material electrically coupled to the semiconductor body adjoining the first contact trench. The semiconductor further includes a second contact trench extending into the semiconductor body at the second side.
