Abstract:
A drill chuck has a chuck body centered on an axis, made of plastic, and formed with an axially rearwardly open drive-spindle seat, at least one axially extending slot of ring-segment section opening radially inward into the seat, an axially forwardly open tool-holding cavity, and a plurality of angled jaw guides. Respective jaws are movable in the guides and engaged by a threaded ring axially fixed on the body and rotatable about the axis thereon. A tightening sleeve rotatable about the axis on the body is connected to the ring for rotating same.
Abstract:
A gripper for use in combination with a pin has a body having an axially open cavity in which the pin is engageable. Jaws in the cavity are radially displaceable between an inner holding position bearing radially inwardly on and gripping the pin and an outer release position in which the pin can be removed axially from the cavity. An actuating element in the body is engageable with the jaws and shiftable between end positions corresponding to the inner and outer positions of the jaws. An actuator connected to the actuating element can move it from one of the end positions into the other of the end positions. An externally accessible connecting or operating member on the chuck body is connected through an emergency release with the jaws for moving the jaws into the outer release position as the result of connection to or operation of the member.
Abstract:
In an internal combustion engine, fuel is directly injected into at least one combustion chamber at least during a compression stroke in such a way that a stratified mixture is present in the combustion chamber. This mixture is then externally ignited. The fuel is introduced during the compression stroke by at least one main injection and an ignition injection, the ignition injection taking place immediately before an ignition and producing at least essentially no torque.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of clamping a tool or a workpiece, using an electric actuator (1) having a housing (2) attached to a work spindle of a machine tool and in which a threaded spindle (3) for moving jaws of a chuck is axially displaceable, and an electric servomotor (4) having a rotor connected with a drive wheel (6) that moves a nut (7) on the threaded spindle (3), a first sensor being associated with the threaded spindle (3) for detecting the axial position thereof, and a second sensor being associated with the spindle nut (7) for detecting the axial position thereof, and including the method step of determining the position of the threaded spindle (3) by the first sensor when a slight axial force occurs due to contact of the clamping jaws with the tool or the workpiece, and continued movement of the spindle nut (7) until a specified sensor difference (12) between the first sensor and the second sensor is determined by the second sensor. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method.
Abstract:
A drill chuck has a chuck body, a holder body, and a front sleeve surrounding the bodies, with jaws between them. A ring of teeth on one of the bodies can be engaged by a pawl angularly fixed on the other of the bodies. When engaged, the pawl and the array of teeth allow rotate relative to the chuck body in a tightening direction but not in a loosening direction. Respective interengaging stops on the other body and on the front sleeve limit relative angular movement of the front sleeve on the other body between a pair of angularly offset end positions. A back control sleeve has a cam formation engageable with the pawl in only one of the end positions to hold the pawl in the freeing position. The pawl is biased by a spring in the other end position into the locking position.
Abstract:
An exercise console is disclosed as including a housing and a display incorporated into the housing. The display is adapted to align substantially parallel to the top surface of the housing. A tilt mechanism connects the display to the housing and is operable by a user to tilt the display to a nonparallel angle with respect to the housing. In another aspect in accordance with the invention, the exercise console includes a substantially fixed array of buttons incorporated into the housing. The buttons provide to a user various input options which are selectable in a pre-determined sequence by operation of the buttons to program the exercise console. Various indicators are associated with the buttons and inform the user which input options are next available for selection after the user has selected one or more input options.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a flat gasket with a gasket sheet having a plurality of passages. The gasket sheet comprises at least one first sheet metal layer which has at least on one side at least one elongate elevation with an elongate base formed out of the sheet metal layer. The base, under maximum stress occurring during installation of the gasket and in machine operation, is stable with respect to the height thereof in at least first longitudinal sections. The flat gasket is particularly useful for cases where machine part sealing surfaces between which the flat gasket is to be inserted do not have the component elasticity required for a reliable seal. The gasket sheet has at least one second sheet metal layer which has a height-elastic bead in the area of the base which, together with the base, forms a thickness-elastic area of the flat gasket.
Abstract:
In order to produce a seal arrangement for a fuel cell stack which comprises a plurality of fuel cell units that succeed one another in a stack direction wherein each of the fuel cell units comprises a housing incorporating at least one housing part consisting of a metallic material such that it exhibits an adequate electrically insulating effect and adequate mechanical rigidity even at a high operating temperature of the fuel cell stack, it is proposed that the seal arrangement comprises at least one housing part of a first fuel cell unit consisting of a metallic material which is provided with a coating of a ceramic material, wherein the housing part of the first fuel cell unit is brazed to a housing part of a second fuel cell unit by means of a metallic braze at least one position that is provided with the ceramic coating.
