Abstract: An image processing apparatus and method for real time motion detection is provided. In the apparatus, a sub-sampling module receives and sub-samples a current image and a plurality of previous images and a census transform module performs census transform on each of the sub-sampled images to obtain a census vector. A correlation calculation module calculates and compares correlation values between the current image and the plurality of previous images and detects a region having highest correlation. A motion detection module tracks positions of pixels corresponding to the region having the highest correlation to detect motion information in the images. The image processing apparatus and method can obtain, in real time, the direction and speed of an object that is in motion in each image.

Abstract: A transducer system that includes a piezoelectric transducer and a self-diagnosis system electrically connected to the transducer. In one embodiment, the self-diagnosis system is configured to detect when a debonding defect has occurred in the bond between the transducer and a host structure and to detect when a crack has occurred in the transducer itself. The self-diagnosis system implements debonding-detection and crack-detection schemes that can distinguish between debonding and cracking, as well as distinguish these problems from changes arising from temperature variation.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an absorber with a hole for a metallic magnetic cryogenic detector and an aligning method. More specifically, the present invention is to provide an absorber with a small hole as an aligning mark for a temperature sensor used in a metallic magnetic cryogenic detector. A temperature sensor is bonded on the small hole of the absorber punched by a laser. Using the hole as an aligning mark the temperature sensor can be accurately positioned on the pick-up coil of the measuring means. Thus, the aligning method provides a magnetic measurement with an ideal coupling between the sensor and the pick-up loop. It eventually presents a precise measurement of the energy spectrum absorbed in a metallic magnetic cryogenic detector.

Abstract: A method of controlling a washing machine and a motor determines whether a BLDC motor is in a normal state in software without hardware and a user is notified of an abnormal state of the BLDC motor if the BLDC motor is in an abnormal state, thereby ensuring safety. When the motor is rotated, the state of the motor is determined by applying harmonics to a voltage that is applied to a motor and analyzing an output frequency characteristic. When the motor is stopped, the state of the motor is determined by estimating the temperature of the motor.
