摘要: A communication system includes communication protocols that allow a single network or multiple neighboring networks to increase resource sharing and reduce mutual interference and increase their overall throughput. Various protocols apply to homogenous networks in which all power line communication (PLC) devices of multiple networks are interoperable with respect to full power line communication in a common PHY (specifications, signaling capabilities, modulation scheme, coding scheme, bandwidth, etc.) and to heterogeneous networks in which devices of some PLC networks are not interoperable with PLC devices of other PLC networks with respect to full power line communication given that the devices of the different networks do not employ a common PHY. With respect to heterogeneous networks, a protocol is provided to enable coexistence via a signaling scheme common to all of the devices of the network that allows resource sharing between the devices of the multiple heterogeneous networks. Homogeneous networks are those in which all nodes can communicate with each other using a common PHY, so that information about one PLC network can be transferred to another PLC network. Heterogeneous networks are those in which not all PLC networks can exchange information using their own native PHY, such as where users in different apartments or houses use different devices having different specifications, different signaling capabilities, modulation scheme, coding scheme, bandwidth and the like.

摘要: A communication method and device operates in a network in which a multiplicity of communication devices communicate over a shared communication channel. The communication device includes a transmitter that transmits to a second communication device over the shared communication channel a first packet P1, employing a starting tone map TMS that includes a starting transmission scheme for a set of carriers of said channel, a receiver that receives over the shared channel a partial tone map PTM1 from the second communication device, and a tone map generator that generates an updated tone map TM1 based on the starting tone map TMS modified in accordance with the partial tone map PTM1. The transmitter transmits over the shared channel a second packet P2 to the second communication device, employing the updated tone map TM1. The partial tone map may be received as part of an acknowledgment packet from the second communication device.

摘要: A method for determining the make up of a subscriber loop via improved time-domain reflectometry techniques by analyzing the echo responses generated by transmittal of pulses onto the subscriber loop. In the method discontinuities along a loop are identified sequentially and in a step-by-step fashion by comparing the measured waveform to suitable waveforms generated on the basis of a hypothesized topology. Once the generated waveform that best matches the measured data has been found and a discontinuity identified, the waveform generated in correspondence of the loop topology identified so far is subtracted from the measured data to produce a compensated waveform, which, is more suitable for detection and location of the next echo.

摘要: A method for the production of a separation microcolumn made in silicon wafer (11), for a chromatographic or gas-chromatographic system, is described. According to the method, a micro-trench (14) is first made in the silicon wafer. The micro-trench extends in depth in the silicon wafer (11) and along the entire path of the microcolumn. Then, a perfectly circular micro-channel (20), tangent to the upper surface of the silicon wafer (11), is obtained by an in-depth isotropic etching with reactive ions in the micro-trench (14). The microcolumn is functionalized by applying a stationary phase (SP) to the inner wall and finally, another wafer or a layer (17) of silicon or silicon oxide or polymeric material, that acts as a cap or cover, is applied onto the silicon wafer, thus closing the micro-channel. According to a variation, the functionalization is carried out after the micro-channel closure.

摘要: A method and system for determining the make-up of a subscriber loop having sending pulses onto a loop and acquiring data based on received echo signals. Determining from the received echoes each discontinuity on the loop and, based on each discontinuity, determining a channel transfer function for each loop section preceding the discontinuity. The transfer function is then used to synthesize an inverse filter. The inverse filter and acquired data are convolved for all the loop sections preceding the discontinuity. The method may be further improved by modeling real and spurious echoes and subtracting these echoes from the echoes generated in the loop.
