Abstract: The method for forming a coating of the present invention includes: a first step of applying a first solution containing a polysilazane to a surface 2a of a metal substrate 2, heating the first solution to make the first solution undergo conversion into silica and form a first coating 1 having open defects 3, on the surface 2a of the metal substrate 2, and a second step of applying a second solution containing a polysilazane to a surface 1a of the first coating 1 to fill the open defects 3, and heating the second solution at a temperature lower than a heating temperature in the first step to make the second solution undergo conversion into silica and form a second coating 5 on a surface 1a of the first coating 1.

Abstract: A low pressure plasma spraying method includes turning working gas into plasma by direct-current arc to generate a plasma jet while setting a plasma power source output to 2 to 10 kW in a pressure reducing vessel and feeding raw material powder having an average particle size of 1 to 10 μm into the plasma jet from feeding ports of a thermal spraying gun to form a thermal sprayed coating, which can suppress transformation of the raw material powder and form a dense coating.

Abstract: A temperature control unit has a temperature control unit body, a temperature control part provided inside the temperature control unit body, which raises and lowers a surface temperature of the temperature control unit body on a side where a temperature control object is located, and a thin coating temperature measuring resistance part composed of a thermal sprayed coating. The thin coating temperature measuring resistance part is formed over a certain range in a surface on the side where the temperature control object is located, and which is provided inside the temperature control unit body on a side closer to the temperature control object than the temperature control part. The thin coating temperature measuring resistance part can accurately measure an average temperature of a temperature control surface.

Abstract: A method for producing a surface-modified component includes: a process of forming a thermal sprayed coating on a substrate; a process of irradiating a surface of the thermal sprayed coating with a high energy beam so as to cause an entirety of the thermal sprayed coating and a part of the substrate in a thickness direction to melt and then solidify, and thereby forming a densified modified layer; a process of forming a thermal sprayed coating on the modified layer which has been formed in the latest; and a process of irradiating a surface of the thermal sprayed coating with a high energy beam so as to cause an entirety of the thermal sprayed coating and a part of the modified layer which has been formed in the latest in the thickness direction to melt and then solidify, and thereby forming a densified modified layer.

Abstract: An insulated bearing includes a pair of bearing rings arranged concentrically to each other and rolling elements arranged to be rotatable between the pair of bearing rings, at least one of the bearing rings having an insulating layer formed thereon. The one of the bearing rings having the insulating layer formed thereon has an annular groove having an arc-shaped cross section formed on each of both end surfaces of the bearing ring. At least a surface from a non-raceway surface side circumferential surface to the annular groove of the bearing ring is covered by the insulating layer. The insulating layer is a ceramic thermal sprayed layer.
