Abstract: A coating is formed on a surface of a base material of a furnace, and includes a base layer and a sliding material layer that is formed on a surface of the base layer and contains an oxide ceramic and a compound having a layered crystal structure. The sliding material layer causes the collided ashes to be slipped and facilitates the drop off of the adhered ashes. The base material forms a heat transfer tube or a wall surface of the furnace. The coating is also applied to a coal gasification furnace, a pulverized coal fired boiler, a combustion apparatus, or a reaction apparatus containing a furnace.

Abstract: A method for producing a surface-modified component includes: a process of forming a thermal sprayed coating on a substrate; a process of irradiating a surface of the thermal sprayed coating with a high energy beam so as to cause an entirety of the thermal sprayed coating and a part of the substrate in a thickness direction to melt and then solidify, and thereby forming a densified modified layer; a process of forming a thermal sprayed coating on the modified layer which has been formed in the latest; and a process of irradiating a surface of the thermal sprayed coating with a high energy beam so as to cause an entirety of the thermal sprayed coating and a part of the modified layer which has been formed in the latest in the thickness direction to melt and then solidify, and thereby forming a densified modified layer.

Abstract: A hearth roll includes a base roll, a thermally sprayed coating formed on the base roll, and a modified coating formed on the thermally sprayed coating. The modified coating is formed by modifying a part or the whole of a surface of the thermally sprayed coating by melting and solidification of the thermally sprayed coating, by irradiating a part or the whole of the surface of the thermally sprayed coating with an energy beam. The thickness of the modified coating is from 2 to 20 μm, and the Vickers hardness HV of the modified coating is from 1.2 to 1.4 times larger than the Vickers hardness HV of the thermally sprayed coating.

Abstract: A thermal spray powder is provided that contains, as constituent elements, a first element selected from W and Mo; a second element selected from Co, Ni, and Fe; a third element selected from C and B; and a fourth element formed of Si. The amount of the second element in the thermal spray powder is 40% by mole or less. The mole ratio of the fourth element to the second element in the thermal spray powder is 0.002 or greater and 0.03 or less. The thermal spray powder has a crystal phase containing Co, Ni, or Fe; W; and C or a crystal phase containing Co, Ni, or Fe; W or Mo; and B. In an X-ray diffraction spectrum of the thermal spray powder, the peak intensity attributed to Co, Ni, or Fe is at most 0.1 times the largest peak intensity in the same X-ray diffraction spectrum.

Abstract: A coating material and a surface coating method for an in-furnace structure, and an in-furnace structure that are excellent in resistance to corrosion by the sulfur group. The coating material for an in-furnace structure used in a high-temperature corrosive environment including a sulfur group element includes as component composition, by mass, Co: 45% to 72%, both inclusive, Mo: 20% to 35%, both inclusive, Cr: 8% to 25%, both inclusive, and Si: 0.1% to 5%, both inclusive, and substantially without Ni. In the surface coating method used in a high-temperature corrosive environment including a sulfur group element, a coating is formed on a surface of the in-furnace structure by overlay welding or thermal spraying of the above-described coating material. In the in-furnace structure used in a high-temperature corrosive environment including a sulfur group element, a coating using the above-described coating material is formed on a surface of the in-furnace structure.

Abstract: A surface treatment method is for processing a surface of a substrate. The method includes irradiating a surface having unevenness with a laser beam satisfying all of the three following requirements: a power density in a range with a radius of 25 μm from a center of a laser beam spot is 1.0×103 to 1.0×105 kW/cm2; a power density of an entire laser beam spot is 0.08 to 0.12 times the power density in the range with the radius of 25 μm from the center of the laser beam spot; and an action time in the range with the radius of 25 μm from the center of the laser beam spot is 1.7×10-6 to 1.0×10-5 seconds. The method leaves a certain roughness on the surface of the substrate while removing fine and sharp protrusions on the surface.
