    摘要: Disclosed are multifiber ferrule assemblies and methods for manufacturing the same. In one embodiment, a finished multifiber ferrule can be provided with a front end having a first front surface that extends beyond a second front surface, thereby inhibiting interaction with a laser beam during processing. A plurality of optical fibers can be fixed within respective optical fiber bores and extend from respective optical fiber bore openings to a position beyond the first front surface. The plurality of optical fibers can be processed by cutting and polishing with a laser beam for providing each optical fiber with a final polished end surface located beyond the first front surface. In further embodiments, an offset structure is positioned with respect to a finished multifiber ferrule after cutting and polishing the optical fibers.

    摘要: A preconnectorized outdoor cable streamlines the deployment of optical waveguides into the last mile of an optical network. The preconnectorized outdoor cable includes a cable and at least one plug connector. The plug connector is attached to a first end of the cable, thereby connectorizing at least one optical waveguide. The cable has at least one optical waveguide, at least one tensile element, and a cable jacket. Various cable designs such as figure-eight or flat cables may be used with the plug connector. In preferred embodiments, the plug connector includes a crimp assembly having a crimp housing and a crimp band. The crimp housing has two half-shells being held together by the crimp band for securing the at least one tensile element. When fully assembled, the crimp housing fits into a shroud of the preconnectorized cable. The shroud aides in mating the preconnectorized cable with a complimentary receptacle.

    摘要: A method and system for determining fluidborne noise characteristics of a fluid power pump. The system includes the pump, a reference pipe fluidly connected to a discharge of the pump, three pressure sensors disposed within the reference pipe at predetermined spacings from each other and the pump, first and second loading valves, and a calculating and analysis assembly. The loading valves are selectively and alternatingly actuated to pressurize fluid contained in the system. The calculating and analysis assembly receives signals from the pressure sensors and signals indicative of the rotational speed of the pump. The calculating and analysis assembly uses these signals, together with the known physical characteristics of the reference pipe and the system fluid, to determine the source flow ripple and internal impedance. Thereafter, the calculating and analysis assembly thereafter determines the level of the source flow ripple level, which corresponds to source fluidborne noise characteristics of the pump, based upon the calculated source flow ripple.

A test light having the same wavelength as that at which the filter is designed to operate is transmitted through the input collimator. The angle of incidence is measured, and the location where the reflected beam reaches the ferrule is determined. The data dictates where the output fiber pigtail should be positioned within the ferrule to achieve the measured angle of incidence for that transmitted wavelength and the spacing between input and output pigtails based on the angle of reflection. Multiple ferrules containing two or more pigtails corresponding to a particular filter operating at a particular wavelength are segregated into separate collimator bins that are marked accordingly.

The control device includes a swingable baffle plate positioned adjacent the corner for partially closing off the cold air inlet directly adjacent the corner to deflect the inflowing cold air away from the corner to prevent build up of frost or ice. The baffle is controlled by a motor which in turn is preferably controlled in response to the outside air temperature.

    摘要: A single track read/write head design is disclosed in which a pair of solid state magnetically permeable sensors such as coupled film magneto resistive sensors are joined together with a central flux conducting probe in the general form of a T or Y connection with the probe extending downward toward a magnetic record medium to conduct flux to or from the medium for writing or reading therefrom. Alternatively, a single coupled film magneto resistive sensor may be bifurcated at its central area at the intersection with the flux coupling probe. The resultant flux coupled from the magnetic medium is divided between the two sensors, or two halves of a sensor, where it alters the magneto resistive or other magnetic property of the sensor in a differential sense, i.e., the left half or left sensor will experience an increase or decrease in resistance while the right half or right sensor experiences an opposite decrease or increase in resistivity, respectively. The design permits the magnetically permeable sensors to be located at a remote elevation or distance from the record medium to reduce wear and critical lapping problems in manufacture. Allowing the sensors to lie in a generally horizontal plane relative to the magnetic record medium permits magnetic biasing of the magneto resistive sensors in a flux path which does not enter the medium itself and thus avoids unwanted flux coupling sensor and/or bias flux to the medium which interferes with reading and writing of the data record. The differential nature of the flux energization path of the two sensors or sensor halves results in common mode noise rejection from flying height variations between the coupling probe and the medium and of other electrical disturbances common to the circuits of the sensors.
