Abstract:
A thermal processor includes an oven for thermally developing an imaging media which produces gaseous contaminants during development. The gaseous contaminants includes odorous portions and condensable portions which have a condensation temperature. A contaminant removal cartridge has a housing configured to couple to the oven, a heat exchanger, and a filter module. The heat exchanger receives from the oven at least a first air flow at a first temperature, wherein the first temperature is above the condensation temperature, and including gaseous contaminants. The heat exchanger cools the first air flow to a desired filtering temperature, which is below the condensation temperature, to condense and collect the condensable portion of the gaseous contaminants and form a filtering air flow. The filter module receives the filtering air flow, to collect the remaining condensed contaminants, and to absorb the odorous portion of the gaseous contaminants to form an exhaust air flow.
Abstract:
The invention can be characterized as method for stimulating or inhibiting gene expression by photomodulating living cells using a source of narrowband multichromatic electromagnetic radiation. The cells may include, among others, nerve cells, skin cells, retinal cells, heart cells, stem cells, brain cells, cells found in human organs, cells found in hair follicles, and cells found in the human eye or retina. Photomodulation may be enhanced using topically or orally administered compositions. The source of narrowband multichromatic electromagnetic radiation may include at least one light emitting diode (LED) that can emit radiation having a wavelength of from about 300 nm to about 1600 nm.
Abstract:
An air mattress has a resilient front panel, an opposed rear panel and at least one interior panel extending therebetween dividing the mattress into ball and strike chambers. A ball air valve attached to the rear panel at the ball chamber activates in response to a predetermined pressure increase in the chamber occurring in response to deflection of the front panel at the ball chamber. A strike air valve attached to the rear panel at the strike chamber activates in response to a predetermined pressure increase in the chamber occurring in response to deflection of the front panel at the strike chamber. Signaling devices alert when a strike or ball air valve activates informing a user whether a pitch is a ball or a strike.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for treatment of skin disorders. More particularly, the disclosed invention is directed toward the reduction of acne and acne related bacteria using low-intensity light therapy. In an illustrative embodiment, skin containing acne bacteria is treated with a series of pulses of light from a light emitting diode. The LED has a dominant emissive wavelength of about 660 nm and an energy output of about 4 mW. The acne bacteria-containing tissue is exposed to pulses from the light source about 100 times for about 250 milliseconds per pulse, with an interpulse interval of about 100 milliseconds.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for correcting for at least one of deadtime losses and random coincidences in a positron emission tomography (PET) medical imaging device having a plurality of detectors at successive locations circumferentially spaced about a viewing area, the method comprising, receiving signals indicative of positron-electron annihilation events occurring along a line of response between pairs of detectors for a plurality of predetermined time segments of data acquisition of the events, calculating a correction sinogram for each predetermined time segment from data acquired during each respective single time segment, calculating corrected counts in the correction sinogram for each time segment, calculating a time-weighted correction sinogram for each time segment, combining the time-weighted correction sinogram to generate an acquisition sinogram, and generating an image from the acquisition sinogram.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for treatment of skin disorders. More particularly, the disclosed invention is directed toward the treatment of acne and acne scarring by treating sebaceous oil glands and the surrounding tissue with an exogenous chromophore composition and then exposing the target tissue to visible, infrared, or ultraviolet light to inhibit the activity of the oil gland and eliminate acne bacteria. The treatment method of the present invention may be futher augmented by enhancing the penetration of the topical composition into the oil gland and surrounding tissue through the use of procedures including enzyme peeling, microderm abrasion, or ultrasound.
Abstract:
A system is provided for logging digital messages and forwarding them outside a proprietary telecommunications network. The system includes a service logic program (“SLP”) which determines whether the message is to be forwarded outside the proprietary system. If the message is to be forwarded outside the system, the SLP sends it to the main relay, which logs the message to a log file, and forwards it to a discriminator. The discriminator forwards the message to a sub-relay, which is connected to a vendor application. The sub-relay forwards the message outside the proprietary telecommunications system, to the vendor application.
