Abstract:
A method and apparatus for filling a transmission at the transmission assembly plant including the steps of pumping fluid through the transmission entering at a first port and exiting through a second port, rotating the torque converter to purge trapped air, shifting the transmission, filling the transmission to a desired level and plugging the first and second ports. Through use of the method and apparatus of the present invention, the transmission is placed in a “road ready” condition and will not require additional fluid to be added in a top off operation at the vehicle assembly plant.
Abstract:
A coating for silicon based materials such as those used in high temperature, aqueous environments. An aspect of the invention is directed to an article including a silicon based substrate, a bond coat comprising silicon, and a barrier coat. The barrier coat includes an aluminate such as an alkaline earth metal aluminate or a rare earth aluminate. The barrier coat may be an intermediate coat between the bond coat and a top coat, or it may be the top coat.
Abstract:
Disclosed are random copolymers derived from ethylene and at least two different alkyl acrylate comonomers, with or without an acid cure site-containing comonomer. In particular, disclosed are copolymers derived from copolymerization of (a) from 10 to 50 weight % of ethylene; (b) from 5 to 55 weight % of a first alkyl acrylate; (b) from 15 to 80 weight % of a second alkyl acrylate; and (d) from 0 to 7 weight % of a monoalkyl ester of 1,4-butene-dioic acid. Such copolymers exhibit lower glass transition temperatures (Tg) relative to previous ethylene copolymers comprising a single alkyl acrylate comonomer and maintain the good heat and fluid resistance when employed to produce cured elastomeric compositions as well as the improved low temperature properties. This invention also provides compounded compositions comprising these copolymers, and cured compositions (i.e., vulcanizates) as well as rubber articles formed from these compounded compositions, such as hoses, dampers, seals, gaskets, constant velocity joint (CVJ) boots and shaft boots.
Abstract:
Footwear including a molded shell for enveloping the wearer's foot and wherein an integral web platform is molded with the shell. The bottom of the shell and the web platform is cemented to the outsole and then the web portion is stitched to the outsole.
Abstract:
A self-loading bale transporter (1) for agricultural use is particularly adapted for use with round bales (20). The self-loading bale transporter includes a support (2) which is movable between a position in which bales (20) may be loaded and unloaded, and a position for transporting the bales. The bale transporter (1) is further provided with loading arms which are capable of clamping the bale (20) onto the support during loading and transportation, and then releasing the bale (20) when it is unloaded.
Abstract:
The present invention generally provides a cannula system that is readily maneuverable in an operating room setting, can be used to expose different instrumentalities to a target site, and has directional capabilities to allow the user to treat multiple quadrants or areas of a target site. The present invention provides cannula systems including these different instrumentalities as well as methods of operating these cannula systems and methods of treating orthopedic conditions using these cannula systems.
Abstract:
Disclosed in a filter for filtering a working fluid comprising a canister having an inlet and an outlet; a first partially perforated generally conical member positioned in said canister; a second generally conical member positioned inside said first partially perforated generally conical member, whereby the working fluid upon entering the inlet is caused to spin inside the canister, to pass through the perforated portion of the first generally conical member, to enter an inlet to the second generally conical member, to spin within the second conical member and to pass through the outlet.
Abstract:
A sealing clamp 1a for sealing at least one opening in a fluid line, said sealing clamp 1a comprising a pair of opposed jaws 2a, 3a connected to one another and movable between a clamping position and a non-clamping position; a handle 7a, 8a extending from each said jaw 2a, 3a for moving the jaws 2a, 3a between the clamping position and the non-clamping position; a biasing mechanism 6a for moving the jaws 2a, 3a to the clamping position; and at least one sealing member 4a associated with at least one said jaw 2a for sealing said opening when the jaws 2a, 3a are in the clamping position.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to an integrated process and system for water treatment, in particular, an integrated process and system for water treatment in the beverage manufacture cycle. The water treatment process is directed to treating an influent water solution, a low sugar concentration solution, and a high sugar concentration solution. The water treatment system is directed to a system for treating an influent water solution, a system for treating a low sugar concentration solution, and system for treating a high sugar concentration solution.
Abstract:
A holding device (1) for holding a gear (60) stationary relative to an engine block. The device (1) includes a body (2) having a threaded passage extending axially therethrough, a projection (4) extending laterally of the body (2) and adapted to engage a recess (63) between teeth (62) of the gear (60), a hooked portion (3) adapted to (i) extend between the gear (60) and the engine block and (ii) hook behind the teeth (62) of the gear (60), and a jacking screw (5) extending through the threaded passage and rotatable relative to the body (2) such that an end (53) of the jacking screw (5) engages the engine block and moves the hooked portion (3) into firm engagement with the gear (60).
