    摘要: A posterior arch prosthesis according to the present invention includes a main body, two transverse protuberances extending transversely from either side of the main body, articulating surfaces formed on each of the transverse protuberances, and a posterior protuberance extending posteriorly from the main body. The posterior protuberance is attached to a first vertebra from which the natural posterior arch has been removed such that the articulating surfaces are arranged in articulating contact with surfaces on an adjacent, second vertebra. The posterior protuberance includes an attachment to which native structure may be reattached upon attachment of the prosthesis to the first vertebra.

The intervertebral prosthetic disc includes an inferior articular half that can be configured to engage the inferior vertebra and a superior articular half that can be configured to engage the superior vertebra. The inferior articular half can be configured to cooperate with the superior articular half to allow relative angular motion between the inferior vertebra and the superior vertebra when installed. Further, the intervertebral prosthetic device can be sized and shaped to pass through a psoas muscle without injuring a spinal cord or a sympathetic chain.

    摘要: An inter-transverse process spacer device for placement between two adjacent transverse processes, includes a spacer member with deformable first and second ends and may include a connector. The inter-transverse process spacer device may also include a flexible, fillable container for containing an injectable material that is compressible following implantation. The container is impermeable to the material it will be filled with. A structural mesh, for example, made of PET fabric and interwoven shape-memory alloy wire, provides structure for and containment of the container, as well as shape control of the inter-transverse process spacer device. The material can be injected into the container through a conduit. The inter-transverse process spacer device is sized and configured to allow for placement between adjacent transverse processes to produce a lateral force for correcting a spinal deformity. A method for correcting a spinal deformity using the inter-transverse process spacer device is also disclosed.

    摘要: An improved suture anchor driver includes a handle and an extending elongated shaft adapted for passing through arthroscopic portals. The distal end of the shaft engages the suture anchor. The shaft is cannulated to allow passage of a suture from the anchor to the handle. The shaft also has a slot in its wall and extending along most of its length in communication with the interior of the shaft. The handle has a grooved knob and adjacent resilient cap for retaining a needle. A sliding member is positioned on the shaft adjacent the needle. The intermediate portion of the suture is looped through an elastic hole in order to maintain it in tension. In use, the anchor is driven into tissue. As the driver is withdrawn, the suture pulls out of the elastic hole and through the shaft. The suture then pulls the needle from the groove. A portion of the needle slides in the slot as the needle travels along the cannula. The sliding member is pulled along by the needle. The sliding member protects the needle and helps to control the rate of its withdrawal.

The apparatus includes a radiolucent rod, and a carriage assembly with a clamp assembly for connection to a fixation pin. A sleeve is threadingly connected with the carriage assembly and is disposed about the rod. A clamping device interconnects the sleeve with the rod at a selective one of a plurality of locations along a length of the rod. Rotation of the sleeve relative to the carriage assembly moves the rod in an axial direction relative to the carriage assembly.

    摘要: An external fixation apparatus 2 that allows the transfixation wire 10 to be secured at a plurality of discrete positions to provide adjustability of the angular orientation of the wire with respect to the plane of a frame ring 6. The fixation apparatus 2 includes a transfixation wire or pin 10 that is connected between a transmitting clamp 20 and a receiving clamp 40 that are shiftably carried atop of a partial frame ring 6. A wire retainer 50 is secured to the distal end 14 of the transfixation wire. The receiving clamp 40 includes a raised member 46 adapted for receiving distal end 14 of wire 10 and mating with retainer 50 at a variety of discrete positions along the length of raised member 46. Retainer 50 uses two screws 54, 56 to secure distal end 14 of wire 10 within a longitudinal through bore 51. Screw 54 extends into longitudinal bore 51 to engage wire 10 near the proximal end of retainer 50. Screw 56 extends into longitudinal bore 51 and bends the distal end 14 of wire 10 downward within a slot 53 defined along longitudinal bore 51 at the distal end of retainer 50. Bending the distal end 14 of wire 10 within retainer 50 improves the connection between wire 10 and retainer 50.
