    摘要: A multiple component cartridge includes a barrel defining a chamber and a longitudinal axis. A first plunger is disposed within the chamber and in sealing engagement with the barrel. The first plunger includes at least one member and is movable relative to the barrel such that the at least one member is configured for movement relative to the first plunger to facilitate passage of at least a first component through the first plunger. A second plunger is disposed within the chamber and in sealing engagement with the barrel. The second plunger includes at least one member and is movable relative to the barrel such that the at least one member of the second plunger is configured for movement relative to the second plunger to facilitate passage of at least a second component through the second plunger.

    摘要: A method for securing first and second tissues with a suture anchor comprising the steps of forming a borehole in the first tissue; threading a suture through the second tissue forming a loop in the suture with the tissue thereby secured in the loop, the loop defining two suture portions; attaching the two suture portions to the anchor whereby the two suture portions are threaded through the anchor and initially movable with respect to the anchor; and providing a force to a shaft of the anchor, the force causing clamping of the two suture portions in the anchor and deformation of a deformable portion of the anchor to cause the deformable portion to engage a wall of the borehole thereby to secure the suture anchor in the first tissue and the loop holding the second tissue to the suture anchor.

    摘要: An insertion tool for a rotor blade anchor. The anchor is pivotably coupled to a handle so that the anchor can assume a first position in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the handle. The tool is designed to be rotated about the longitudinal axis so that the anchor, when placed in a bore hole in biological tissue, can attain a second position substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The anchor itself includes a cutting surface thereon. A deploy spring is disposed on the handle and biases the anchor toward the second position. In use, when the rotor blade is inserted into an object such as a bone, the object moves the anchor toward alignment with the longitudinal axis. When the anchor is inserted far enough into the object, a user rotates the handle and the anchor. The deploy spring biases the cutting surface so that is engages with the sidewall of the borehole. The rotation of the handle causes the cutting surface to cut into the object. The rotation imparted by the user and the biasing produced by the deploy spring causes the anchor to undergo a screwing type motion as it is being inserted into the object. Eventually the anchor attains a position substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

    摘要: Apparatus for reattaching a ligament or implanting a ligament replacement in bone comprising a first ligament attaching element for coupling to a first end of the ligament or ligament replacement, a second ligament attaching element for coupling to a second end of the ligament or ligament replacement, a first engaging element slidably disposed on the first ligament attaching element and having at least one longitudinally extending finger, a second engaging element slidably disposed on the second ligament attaching element and having at least one longitudinal extending finger. The finger of each engaging element is directed toward the other. The first attaching element and first engaging element are adapted to be inserted in a first bore in a first bone member. The second attaching element and second engaging element are adapted to be inserted in a second bore in a second bone member aligned with the first bore, with the ligament or ligament replacement disposed between the attaching elements and in general alignment with the bores. The first and second attaching elements each having cam surfaces thereon for engaging the at least one finger of the respective engaging element. The finger of each engaging element is adapted to be moved into engagement with the cam surface thereby to force the finger to move outwardly into engagement with the wall of the bore in the respective bone member, thereby securing the engaging element into the respective bone member with the ligament or ligament replacement attached between the first and second attaching elements.

    摘要: An anchor for attaching an object within a tunnel extending through a workpiece such as a bone or a bone-like structure, and a method for using the same. The anchor includes a body and a plurality of barbs located in circumferentially spaced relation about the body. The barbs are formed of a material which may be elastically deformed from a normal configuration wherein the outer ends of the barbs extend radially outwardly of the body toward a configuration wherein the barbs are located generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body. A diametrical opening in the front portion of the anchor is provided for engagement by a length of cord-like material such that the anchor may be pulled into a bone tunnel, and an opening in the rear portion of the anchor is provided for attaching either a ligament, tendon or the like to the anchor, or for grasping a bone plug or similar rigid object attached to a free end of the ligament, tendon or the like.
