摘要: Cart assemblies for use with blood filtration are described. An example cart assembly for use with blood filtration includes a base including a recessed portion to receive one or more containers defining compartments each to receive a container of a fluid transfer system. Additionally, the base includes a plurality of transport members coupled to respective portions of the base. A plane on which a surface of the recessed portion lies is below a portion of each of the plurality of transport members. Additionally, the cart assembly includes a hanger assembly comprising a plurality of suspension members from which another container of the fluid transfer system is to be suspended and a pole to couple the base to the hanger assembly.

摘要: Medical needle assemblies incorporating a needle cover are provided. According to one aspect, a medical needle assembly includes a hub portion and a pair of outwardly extending wings. The hub portion may have a raised orientation member, with the wings being foldable to overlay the raised orientation member and contact the raised orientation member and each other. Alternatively, the hub portion may have an anti-rotation member adapted to cooperate with the wings to limit rotation of the wings with respect to the hub portion.

摘要: A flow controller includes a housing having central portion and finger-gripping portions on either side of said central portion. The housing defines an interior flow path and includes a breakable member at least partially positioned within the interior flow path of the housing to prevent the passage of fluid through the flow path. The breakable member includes a stem integrally molded to a tubular member. The finger-gripping portions have a cross sectional area greater than the cross sectional area of the central portion. The central portion includes a wall having a selected thickness.

摘要: Flow controllers are provided for interconnecting a fluid source to two separate collection zones. The flow controllers include a body having a fluid inlet communicating with the source and two fluid outlets, each communicating with one of the collection zones. An actuator member received within a cavity of the body includes first and second flow paths. In a first position, the first flow path is aligned with the fluid inlet of the body to allow fluid communication with one of the fluid outlets and the associated collection zone. The actuator member is non-rotationally moved to a second position within the cavity to align the second flow path with the fluid inlet of the body, thereby halting flow through the first flow path and allowing fluid communication with the other collection zone. An optional safety feature prevents movement of the actuator member from the second position to the first position.

摘要: A biological suspension processing system is disclosed that may include a suspension treatment device for treating one or more components of a biological suspension, a first fluid flow path for introducing a suspension into the treatment device and a second fluid flow path for withdrawing a constituent of the suspension from the device. At least one microelectromechanical (MEM) sensor communicates with one of the fluid flow paths for sensing a selected characteristic of the fluid therewith. The MEM sensor may be located elsewhere, such as on a container or bag and communicate with the interior for sensing a characteristic of the fluid contained therein. A wide variety of characteristics may be sensed, such as flow rate, pH, cell type, cell antigenicity, DNA, viral or bacterial presence, cholesterol, hematocrit, cell concentration, cell count, partial pressure, pathogen presence, or viscosity.
