摘要: A blood cell analysis method and a blood cell analyzer are provided. In the method and analyzer, characteristic information of white blood cell fragments is obtained based on side scattered light information and fluorescence information, characteristic information of platelets is obtained based on forward scattered light information and fluorescence information and then a count value for the platelets is acquired based on the characteristic information of the platelets and the characteristic information of the white blood cell fragments. The present invention can avoid the influence of the white blood cell fragments on the platelet counting, thereby ensuring the accuracy of the platelet counting without increasing costs.

摘要: For analyzing a sample containing particles of at least two categories, such as a sample containing blood cells, a particle counter subject to a detection limit is coupled with an analyzer capable of discerning particle number ratios, such as a visual analyzer, and a processor. A first category of particles can be present beyond detection range limits while a second category of particles is present within respective detection range limits. The concentration of the second category of particles is determined by the particle counter. A ratio of counts of the first category to the second category is determined on the analyzer. The concentration of particles in the first category is calculated on the processor based on the ratio and the count or concentration of particles in the second category.

摘要: A system, device and method for measuring markers for a periprosthetic joint infection in a sample of synovial fluid. A sensor reader device includes a vial receptacle for receiving a vial containing synovial fluid. A light source illuminates the vial and an optical sensor detects light scattered and/or absorbed by white blood cells in the fluid sample. An electrical signal corresponding to the intensity of the light received at the optical sensor is detected. A white blood cell concentration is determined from the electrical signal value. The sensor reader device also includes one or more immunoassay strip receptacles. Immunoassay strips for other marker are inserted into the receptacles. Immunoassay optical sensors detect light generated by the immunoassay reaction on the immunoassay strip to determine the concentration of the marker. In example implementations, the device includes an immunoassay strip reader for leukocyte esterase and c-reactive protein.

摘要: A method for identifying candidate target cells within a biological fluid specimen includes a digital image of the biological fluid specimen with the digital image having a plurality of color channels, identifying first connected regions of pixels of a minimum first intensity in a first channel, identifying second connected regions of pixels of a minimum second intensity in a second channel, and determining first connected regions and second connected regions that spatially overlap. For a pair of a first connected region and a second connected region that spatially overlap, whether the second connected region overlaps the first connected region by a threshold amount is determined, and if the second connected region overlaps the first connected region by the threshold amount then the portion of the image corresponding to the overlap is continued to be treated as a candidate for classification.

The method includes obtaining a biological fluid specimen, preparing the biological fluid specimen by staining cell features in the biological fluid specimen, capturing a digital image having a plurality of color channels of the biological fluid specimen, and applying image analysis to the digital image. A computer program product for identifying candidate target cells within a biological fluid specimen is also described. The computer program comprises instructions to cause a processor to carry out the image analysis.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for determining whether a Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patient is susceptible to treatment with a B cell targeted therapy, which method comprises the step of analysing B cells and/or germinal centre-like structures (GC-LS) in a synovial tissue sample from the patient; wherein a patient whose synovial tissue sample is B cell rich and/or GC-LS negative is determined to be susceptible to treatment with the B cell targeted therapy, whereas a patient whose synovial tissue sample is B-cell poor and/or GC-LS positive is determined to be resistant to treatment with the B cell targeted therapy.

摘要: A new markers for insulin production decline in Type 1 diabetes has been found in the ratio the CD4 naïve (CD45RO−CD62L+) to central memory (CD45RO+CD62L+) and in the level of CD4 central memory T-cell subpopulations. A method of diagnosing autoimmunity and its progressiveness, more specifically diabetes, pre-diabetes, a susceptibility to diabetes mellitus, or the level of effectiveness of therapy/intervention modality for one or more of such conditions in a subject can be conducted by determining level of CD4 naïve (CD45RO−CD62L+) T-cells by immunofluorescence analysis of a sample extracted from a subject; determining level of CD4 central memory (CD45RO+CD62L+) T-cells by immunofluorescence analysis of a sample extracted from a subject, and quantitatively relating the levels of the CD4 naïve and central memory T-cells, wherein a low ratio of CD4 naïve T-cells to CD4 central memory T-cells and/or high CD4 central memory T-cell indicates autoimmunity, a susceptibility to autoimmunity, diabetes, pre-diabetes, a susceptibility to diabetes mellitus or ineffectiveness of a treatment for one or more of such conditions.

The controller is configured to control the impedance testing device to test a first test sample to obtain a first platelet counting result for a test blood sample based on electronic information of the first test sample; control the optical testing device to test a second test sample to obtain a second platelet counting result for the test blood sample based only on optical information of the second test sample or based on both the electronic information of the first test sample and the optical information of the second test sample; determine whether the first platelet counting result is unreliable due to abnormality of the test blood sample; and output the first and/or the second platelet counting result according to the result of the determination.
