    摘要: A system, device and method for measuring markers for a periprosthetic joint infection in a sample of synovial fluid. A sensor reader device includes a vial receptacle for receiving a vial containing synovial fluid. A light source illuminates the vial and an optical sensor detects light scattered and/or absorbed by white blood cells in the fluid sample. An electrical signal corresponding to the intensity of the light received at the optical sensor is detected. A white blood cell concentration is determined from the electrical signal value. The sensor reader device also includes one or more immunoassay strip receptacles. Immunoassay strips for other marker are inserted into the receptacles. Immunoassay optical sensors detect light generated by the immunoassay reaction on the immunoassay strip to determine the concentration of the marker. In example implementations, the device includes an immunoassay strip reader for leukocyte esterase and c-reactive protein.

    摘要: A new markers for insulin production decline in Type 1 diabetes has been found in the ratio the CD4 naïve (CD45RO−CD62L+) to central memory (CD45RO+CD62L+) and in the level of CD4 central memory T-cell subpopulations. A method of diagnosing autoimmunity and its progressiveness, more specifically diabetes, pre-diabetes, a susceptibility to diabetes mellitus, or the level of effectiveness of therapy/intervention modality for one or more of such conditions in a subject can be conducted by determining level of CD4 naïve (CD45RO−CD62L+) T-cells by immunofluorescence analysis of a sample extracted from a subject; determining level of CD4 central memory (CD45RO+CD62L+) T-cells by immunofluorescence analysis of a sample extracted from a subject, and quantitatively relating the levels of the CD4 naïve and central memory T-cells, wherein a low ratio of CD4 naïve T-cells to CD4 central memory T-cells and/or high CD4 central memory T-cell indicates autoimmunity, a susceptibility to autoimmunity, diabetes, pre-diabetes, a susceptibility to diabetes mellitus or ineffectiveness of a treatment for one or more of such conditions.

The controller is configured to control the impedance testing device to test a first test sample to obtain a first platelet counting result for a test blood sample based on electronic information of the first test sample; control the optical testing device to test a second test sample to obtain a second platelet counting result for the test blood sample based only on optical information of the second test sample or based on both the electronic information of the first test sample and the optical information of the second test sample; determine whether the first platelet counting result is unreliable due to abnormality of the test blood sample; and output the first and/or the second platelet counting result according to the result of the determination.
