A fuel injection system for externally ignited internal combustion engines preferably has one fuel injection location in the air induction tube (manifold). The metering of fuel occurs independently of the condition of the air prevailing at the injection location, the injection location is disposed ahead of the junction of the air induction tube which leads to the individual engine cylinders. Air is brought to a high velocity by means within the induction tube and impinges, at this high velocity, immediately on the injected fuel, enveloping the same. As a result, the mixture preparation is effected without wetting of the inner wall of the induction tube and the means which bring the air to the required high velocity.

The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing with a mouth piece, in which a valve seat body is disposed, included are two magnet coils, two cores and one armature, which has a spherical guide section and is connected to a valve needle. The spherical guide section is slidably supported with its circumference in a guide bore of the valve seat body and in its stroke movement away from the core is limited by a tapered stop opening which adjoins the guide bore. Radially extending grooves are machined into the wall of the stop opening and are coextensive in the wall of the guide bore, so that the area of contact between the spherical guide section and the stop opening is decreased.

An electromagnetically actuatable valve is proposed, which serves in particular to inject fuel into the intake tube of internal combustion engines operating with fuel injection systems. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing, a core, a magnetic coil and a cylindrical armature which is connected via a rod-like connecting part having a smaller cross section than the armature with a valve closing member embodied in the form of a ball. The valve closing member cooperates with a valve seat provided in a valve seat body. The radial guidance of the armature is effected by a narrow annular disk. The valve closing member is radially guided only by the valve seat in its closed position and by a stop in its open position. Downstream of the valve seat fuel guide bores lead into a preparation bore in the form of a blind bore, which has a diameter of approximately 1 mm.

The fuel supply line has an elastic wall section, with which is connected a rigid wall section and on which are fastened the supports. The elastic wall section is elastic to the extent that it damps the pressure pulsations of the fuel in the fuel supply line, whereas the rigid wall section assures the required rigidity of the fuel supply line.

An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing having an outlet tube in which a valve seat body is disposed. Respective magnetic coils are disposed on pole pieces and a permanent magnet is disposed between the pole portions of the pole pieces. In the valve seat body a flow bore is provided, which merges via a stop face with a guide bore, in which a ball-shaped armature is slidably disposed. A valve needle which is joined with the armature protrudes through the flow bore and, with a closing head, cooperates with a valve seat in the valve seat body. Directly upstream of the closing head a metering collar is provided on the valve needle, an annular metering gap being formed between the metering collar and the wall of the flow bore. The valve needle is supported in pendulum fashion in the flow bore via the ball-shaped armature and, when the valve is opened, it is centered in the flow bore by the fuel flowing therein.

The valve is composed of a valve housing, in which a magnetic coil is disposed around a core. The core has a concavely formed stop face against which, during excitation of the magnetic coil, a ball rests. The ball serves as an armature and movable valve part and cooperates with a fixed valve seat. The radius (r.sub.1) of the concavely formed stop face of the core is larger by about 0.1 to 1 mm than the radius (r.sub.2) of the ball. This causes a sufficient hydraulic cushion between the end face of the core and the ball when the ball is attracted toward the core upon magnetic energization of the latter and thus prevents a bouncing movement of the ball or its sticking to the core, when the ball is biased toward the valve seat upon de-energization of the core.

A method for mixture formation for mixture-compressing internal combustion engines having a turbocharger and a fuel supply system for performing the method. The fuel supply system serves to regulate the fuel-air mixture in accordance with operating parameters of the engine and includes a first fuel supply element disposed upstream of a throttle valve and a second fuel supply element disposed upstream of a compressor. Below the operating temperature of the engine, fuel is fed only via the first fuel supply element. Above the operating temperature of the engine, the feeding of fuel is effected via the first fuel supply element until such time as the charging range begins, at a predetermined intake manifold pressure (p.sub.um), and above this pressure only via the second fuel supply element. The transition from one fuel supply element to the other takes place in accordance with a predetermined timed function. As a result, good fuel preparation and good cylinder filling are attained.

In order to carry away vapor bubbles, there is either a degassing conduit embodied on the fuel injection valve between the fuel supply groove and the fuel outflow groove, a degassing conduit embodied on the middle supporting point, or a degassing conduit embodied on the holder body.

A fuel injection system is proposed which can be triggered in such a manner that when control signals characterizing engine overrunning are present the fuel injection is interrupted. The fuel injection system includes metering valves, each of which is assigned one regulating valve, the movable valve element of which can be exposed on one side to the fuel pressure downstream of the pertinent metering valve and on the other side to the pressure in a control pressure line, which is limited on one side by a control throttle and on the other side by a control pressure valve. During engine overrunning, an electromagnetic valve which is disposed in a bypass that bypasses the control throttle or the control pressure valve or an electromagnetic valve in the control pressure line can be controlled in such a manner that the fuel pressure in the control pressure line increases and the regulating valves close, as a result of which the fuel injection is interrupted.
