摘要： An image signal encoding method and apparatus is provided. An input image signal is coded to produce coded picture signals. Specifically, the coded picture signals include a group-of-pictures consisting of predictive coded pictures and bi-directionally predictive coded pictures. For at least some of the predictive coded pictures of the group-of-pictures, slices are designated which consist entirely of intra-coded macroblocks. An indication of the slices designated is provided in the coded picture signals.

摘要： The present technology relates to an encoding device, an encoding method, a decoding device, and a decoding method capable of suppressing the amount of information without degrading the image quality of an image of a viewpoint that is used when the compatibility is secured in a case where a multi-viewpoint image is encoded. A compatible encoder generates a compatible stream by encoding an image A1 that is a compatible image. An image converting unit lowers the resolution of images B1 and C1 that are auxiliary images. An auxiliary encoder generates an encoded stream of the auxiliary image by encoding the auxiliary image of which the resolution is lowered. A multiplexing unit transmits the compatible stream and the encoded stream of the auxiliary image. The present technology can be applied to, for example, an encoding device that encodes a 3D image of the multi-viewpoint mode.

摘要： A virtual machine can be implemented by anyone because the interface and other information necessary for implementation are publicly available. Hence, if virtual machine is implemented maliciously, a program operating thereon can be made to operate maliciously instead of operating legitimately. By comparing secret information held in memory and specific to the virtual machine with verification information which a program holds itself, the program verifies that the virtual machine on which it is running has been legitimately implemented and excludes illegitimate virtual machines.

摘要： In an information recording medium storing many pieces of content, a configuration that allows use management on segmented content basis is provided. A plurality of content management units corresponding to title, index and other information are set by partitioning stored content in an information recording medium. Different unit keys that are encryption keys are allocated to different content management units. At least the content real data included in each content management unit is encrypted by use of the unit key and the encrypted data is stored. In content reproduction, units are identified and decryption is executed by use of a unit key corresponding to each unit for reproduction. In an information recording medium storing many pieces of content for example, each of segmented pieces of content may be managed.

The data includes table of contents (TOC) information recorded in a plurality of sectors in at least one TOC track and user information recorded in a plurality of sectors in user tracks. The user information is comprised of MPEG-compressed video data, which may exhibit any one of difference MPEG formats, and compressed audio data, which likewise may exhibit an MPEG format, a PCM format or the like. The TOC information includes addresses of a start sectors recorded in the user track. The data is encoded in a long distance error correction code having at least eight parity symbols.

摘要： A moving picture coding apparatus for coding a moving picture and a moving picture decoding apparatus for decoding a coded moving picture are provided. The moving picture coding apparatus is operative to divide a picture signal of a picture frame of N pixels×M lines (horizontal N pixels, vertical M lines) to be coded between a first picture portion serving as the inside picture portion having picture frame of N1 pixels×M1 lines (N1≦N, M1≦M) and a second picture portion serving as picture portion outside the first picture portion to divide the first and second picture portions in independent predetermined divisional units comprised of a plurality of pixels, and to add peculiar discrimination codes to headers of divisional units in transmitting coded information of predetermined divisional units belonging to the second picture portion. The moving picture decoding apparatus is operative so that when only decoding ability of picture frame of N1 pixels×M1 lines is provided, it reproduces only the first picture portion, and detects any one of discrimination codes added to headers of predetermined divisional units comprised of a plurality of pixels belonging to the second picture portion with respect to the second picture portion to discriminate it, thus to read, in a skipped manner, coded information of the second picture portion.

摘要： An encoder considers a frame representing a picture as comprised of areas. For each area, the encoder decides which of frame-based or field-based orthogonal transformation will be most efficient at reducing spatial redundancy in that area. For each area, the encoder decides which of frame-based or field-based predictive encoding will be most efficient at reducing temporal redundancy in that area. The encoder encodes each area of the picture frame using the most efficient orthogonal transformation technique and using the most efficient predictive encoding technique to produce an encoded signal. A decoder decodes the encoded signal. The encoded signal is recorded on a recording medium, transmitted over a transmission channel, or broadcast.
