摘要: A toner bottle for containing toner has a cylindrical body and a scraper. The bottle body can be rotated on its axis by a driving source. The scraper is supported movably in the bottle body. The bottle body has an opening and ribs. The toner in the toner bottle is supplied through the opening to a developing unit. When the bottle body rotates, the ribs convey the toner toward the opening. The scraper includes a shaft and a scraping part. The shaft extends over the whole length of the bottle body and supports the scraping part. A portion of the scraping part is in contact with the inner cylindrical surface of the bottle body. When the bottle body rotates, the scraper moves perpendicularly to the axis of the body.

摘要: A method of propagating mammalian endodermally derived progenitors such as hepatic progenitors, their progeny, or mixtures thereof is developed which includes culturing mammalian progenitors, their progeny, or mixtures thereof on a layer of embryonic mammalian feeder cells in a culture medium. The culture medium can be supplemented with one or more hormones and other growth agents. These hormones and other growth agents can include insulin, dexamethasone, transferrin, nicotinamide, serum albumin, β-mercaptoethanol, free fatty acid, glutamine, CuSO4, and H2SeO3. The culture medium can also include antibiotics. Importantly, the culture medium does not include serum. The invention includes means of inducing the differentiation of the progenitors to their adult fates such as the differentiation of hepatic progenitor cells to hepatocytes or biliary cells by adding, or excluding epidermal growth factor, respectively. The method of producing mammalian progenitors is useful in that the progenitors can be used subsequently in one or more of the following processes: identification of growth and differentiation factors, toxicological studies, drug development, antimicrobial studies, or the preparation of an extracorporeal organ such as a bioartificial liver.

摘要: According to one embodiment, an optical disc apparatus provides a stable tracking error signal for aligning the center of a track or record mark string with the center of a laser beam irradiated to a recording surface by an object lens, when an object lens is moved along the radial direction of an optical disc, by adding an output corrected to be able to reduce the influence of an offset deviation component obtained by a second processing of an adder, to an offset obtained by a first processing of an adder, when a defect or adhesion of material affecting optical characteristics is detected on a recording medium.

摘要: In an apparatus for determining a concentration of a light absorbing substance in blood, a plurality of photo emitters are adapted to emit light beams having different wavelengths toward a living tissue including a blood vessel. A photo receiver is adapted to receive the light beams which have been transmitted through or reflected from the living tissue. A driver inputs driving currents for causing the respective photo emitters to emit the light beams. An optimizer obtains values of AC components of the light beams received by the photo receiver, and adjusts values of the driving currents such that the values of the AC components fall within a predetermined range.

摘要: In a sensor diagnosis process, a controller for controlling an NOx gas sensor performs processing of changing the oxygen partial pressure in a second measurement chamber by changing the oxygen partial pressure in a first measurement chamber (S190), processing of detecting a current flowing through a second pump cell before the change of the oxygen partial pressure (S180), and processing of detecting a current flowing through the second pump cell after the change of the oxygen partial pressure (S230). Furthermore, the controller performs processing of judging whether or not the ratio between the current values detected by the respective current detecting unit falls within an allowable range, judging that the second pump cell 113 is in a normal state if the ratio between the current values falls within the allowable range, and judging that the second pump cell 113 is in a deteriorated state if the ratio between the current values is out of the allowable range (S240 and S250).

摘要: An electrolytic capacitor and a ballast choke of a lighting circuit, are disposed on a first face of a circuit board facing a base, and a one-package switch of the lighting circuit is disposed on a second face, facing a fluorescent lamp. The one-package switch comprises field effect transistors contained in a single package and serve as two inverter switches for driving the fluorescent lamp. The one-package switch is a generally rectangular SMD with dimensions of not more than 6 mm respectively in length and width and mounted on the second face of the circuit board by means of terminals of the one-package switch. The one-package switch enhances heat dissipation properties of the circuit, enables the reduction of its dimensions, and increases the mounting efficiency.

摘要: An electroacoustic transducer of a horn loudspeaker emits sound, which is supplied through a sound conduit pipe to a horn and propagated out of the horn through a mouth of the horn. The sound conduit pipe is coupled to the horn via a rectangular opening in the upper one of the upper and lower walls forming the horn, to thereby provide a linear sound source for the loudspeaker. The location where the sound conduit pipe is coupled to the horn and/or the tilt angle of the sound conduit pipe with respect to the horn may be varied to control the sound radiation characteristic of the loudspeaker.
