A battery pack is provided which can be suitably used in a case where charging of a dedicated secondary battery in a portable terminal device is difficult. The battery pack is mounted in a battery mounting section in a portable cellular phone (portable terminal device) proper. In the battery pack, alkaline accumulators are connected in series. Alkaline accumulators generate electromotive forces having a voltage (3V) being lower than that of the dedicated secondary battery. A power source circuit has a boosting-type DC/DC converter which boosts a voltage of the alkaline accumulators being connected in series at a level being same as that of the dedicated secondary battery (for example, 4.5V), and outputs the boosted voltage. An electrical double layer capacitor has a capacity to feed stable power to an internal circuit in which power consumption increases or decreases in a burst manner and is charged by application of an output of the power source circuit and stores the power.

Manufacture of a liquid crystal display is disclosed. The liquid crystal display includes a backlight unit, a backlight unit-side polarizing plate, and a liquid crystal cell held by two glass plates, the liquid crystal cell having an electrode, a liquid crystal layer, an alignment layer, and a color filter arranged between the glass plates. The liquid crystal display also includes a transparent front plate arranged at a side of the liquid crystal cell opposite to the backlight unit, a polarizing plate attached to the liquid crystal cell, and a transparent organic medium layer arranged between the front plate and the liquid crystal cell. Since the front plate is provided at the outermost surface of an image display portion, and the transparent organic medium is filled between the front plate and the liquid crystal module, it is possible to achieve an improvement in wear resistance and a reduction in reflectance.

In the present invention, a lower electrode is utilized as a photomask to form a liquid-repellent region having a generally same pattern shape as that of the lower electrode and a liquid-attracting region having a generally reversed pattern shape on an insulating film. A conductive ink is coated and calcined in the liquid-attracting region to form an upper electrode having a generally reversed pattern shape to the lower electrode in a self-aligned manner, eliminating the occurrence of misregistration even when a printing method is used. Consequently, semiconductor devices such as an active matrix thin film transistor substrate can be formed using a printing method.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for synthesizing a plurality of data that is in compressed format. According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of creating a synthesized data by synthesizing a plurality of source data that is in compressed format, the method including the steps of: extracting a portion of one of the plurality of source data; decompressing the extracted portion to create a decompressed data portion; and synthesizing two or more of the decompressed data portions derived from different said source data to create a part of said synthesized data. The extracting, decompressing and synthesizing step will be repeated until the creation of said synthesized data being completed.
