摘要: A scanning optical device to be used for an image forming apparatus such as a laser beam printer and a digital copying machine comprises a light source such as a semiconductor laser, an optical deflector such as a rotary polygon mirror, a first optical system for leading the light beam emitted from the light source to the optical deflector, and a second optical system for focussing the light beam deflected by the optical deflector onto a surface to be scanned. The first optical system is adapted to make the light beam strike a deflection surface of the optical deflector with a width greater than that of the deflection surface in the main-scanning direction. The second optical system has an optical element provided on at least an optical surface thereof with an anti-reflection film having a film thickness so adapted as to maximize its light transmittance for the angle of incidence of the most off-axis ray of the light beam deflected by the optical deflector and striking the optical surface.

摘要: An information recording and reproducing apparatus includes a head unit for recording information on and reproducing information from an information recording medium having a plurality of linear tracks arranged in parallel, a device for moving the head unit relative to the recording medium, and a detector for detecting whether the record medium has been loaded into the apparatus in a normal state. The detector includes a photo-detection unit having a light projector for projecting a light beam to the recording medium and a photo-detector for detecting a light beam from the recording medium. The photo-detection unit is arranged such that when the recording medium is inserted in the normal state, the light beam from the light projector illuminates a track of the recording medium and the photo-detector detects high-order diffracted light from the illuminated track.

摘要: An aspherical single lens which has first and second surfaces both comprising aspherical surfaces represented by the following equation, and which meets the following conditions (1), (2) and (3), wherein a distance from any arbitrary point on either aspherical surface to a plane tangential to an apex of the aspherical surface is X, a distance from the arbitrary point to the optical axis is H, the radius of reference curvature of the .nu.-th surface (i.e., the radius of curvature of the apex) is R.nu., a conical constant of the .nu.-th surface is K.nu., and the aspherical coefficient of the .nu.-th surface is A.nu..sub.i (i=3, 4, . . . ): ##EQU1## where F is the focal length of the aspherical single lens, D is a thickness of the aspherical single lens along the optical axis, and N is an index of refraction of the aspherical single lens for the particular wavelength of light used with said lens. The present aspherical single lens can satisfactorily correct aberration in both on-axis and off-axis regions through a parallelepiped plate having a thickness of about 0.04 F-0.111 F. An optical head of optical information recording reproducers such as optical card recording reproducers can be reduced in weight and size by utilizing the aspherical single lens of the present invention as an objective or as a collimating lens.

摘要: A light modulation element of the invention has a plurality of polygonal modulation portions for modulating incident light staggered on arrays. Sides, of each two adjacent portions on different arrays, which are closest to each other are parallel to each other and are not perpendicular to the array direction. The modulation portions can be arranged at a high density along the array direction, the utilization efficiency of illumination light is improved, and the modulation light amount can be increased. When an element is used for a recording apparatus, and S/N ratio is improved, uniform exposure along the array direction is achieved, and the required memory capacity is decreased. A light modulation apparatus of the invention has an imaging optical system, a modulation optical system, and a scanning optical system. By incorporating a suitable means in an optical system or changing the optical system arrangement, a separation angle between modulated and non-modulated lights is increased, and diffracted light generated due to a shape of a light modulation element as a component of the apparatus can be eliminated.

摘要: An information recording/reproducing apparatus uses a card-like recording medium having an area for information recording and a blank area, the area for information recording having a reflectivity different from that of the blank area. The apparatus includes a head unit for performing at least one of recording and reproduction, an autotracking servo, a stepping motor and the like cooperating to cause the card to reciprocate relative to the head unit, and an abnormal state detect circuit for detecting whether the card is inserted in the apparatus in a normal state. The abnormal state detect circuit includes a photosensing unit consisting of a light-emitting element for emitting light rays onto the card and a light-receiving element for receiving the light rays from the card. The photosensing unit is deviated with respect to a central portion of the card along a direction perpendicular to a reciprocal movement of the card so that the area for information recording is irradiated with the light rays from the light-emitting element upon insertion of the card in the normal state.
