摘要: An apparatus for controlling a vehicle continuously variable transmission, including a directional control valve having a first spool movable between a shift-down and a shift-up position, a flow control valve including a second spool movable between a flow-restricting and a non-restricting position, and a first and a second solenoid-operated valve for applying an actuating pressure to the first and second spools. The directional and flow control valves and the solenoid-operated valves are adapted such that the first and second spools are moved toward the shift-up and flow restricting positions, respectively, when the actuating pressure is not applied to the spools, or when solenoid coils of the two solenoid-operated valves are both off. The directional control valve may have a shift-down chamber for receiving a pilot pressure to move the first spool to the shift-down position when a failure of one of the solenoid coils exists while the vehicle speed is lower than a predetermined limit.

摘要: A process for producing a urethane die. A heat-resistant epoxy adhesive is applied to the inner surface of a recess provided in the body of a die. A urethane primer is applied to the adhesive while the adhesive is still in a semi-hardened state. A punch is inserted into the recess to form a space between the recess and the punch and a urethane resin is injected into the space to form a resin layer on the recess having a shape corresponding to the outer surface of the punch. A reinforcing fibrous material may be incorporated into the resin layer by applying a urethane resin having a lubricant incorporated therein to the surface of the punch and adhering a fibrous material impregnated with the urethane resin to the coated surface of the punch prior to inserting the punch into the recess. d

摘要: A tremolo device for a guitar which includes a flat plate pivotably mounted about a fulcrum on a guitar body, a bar secured to the flat plate to receive and anchor strings of the guitar, at least one tension spring for exerting pressure against the flat plate and the bar in one rotating direction, against the tension of the guitar strings, a tremolo arm screwed into the flat plate to oscillate the flat plate and the bar to thereby produce a tremolo effect, a stabilizing plate provided on the bar to stabilize the initial position of the flat plate and the bar, and an abutting mechanism provided on the guitar body to support the flat plate and the bar through the stabilizing plate. The stabilizing plate has a dead point on the periphery thereof, and when the abutting mechanism comes into contact with that dead point, the flat plate and the bar can be most stably supported by the abutting mechanism.

摘要: This invention pertains to a water-insolubilized resin of a polymer of at least one monomer selected from N-alkyl- or N-alkylene-substituted acrylamides or methacrylamides represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 mean individually a hydrogen atom or methyl group and R.sub.3 denotes a methyl, ethyl or propyl group, with the proviso that R.sub.3 is an ethyl or propyl group when R.sub.2 stands for a hydrogen atom, and that R.sub.3 is a methyl or ethyl group when R.sub.2 stands for a methyl group, or wherein R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 form --CH.sub.2).sub.4 or --CH.sub.2).sub.2 O--CH.sub.2).sub.2 in combination; or a copolymer of at least one monomer selected from the acrylamides or methacrylamides and another copolymerizable monomer. The resin has water-absorbing capacity which varies in degree depending on temperature and, when heated, undergoes shrinkage even in the presence of a large excess of water to release once-absorbed water. Because of this property, it may be used as a water-separating agent to remove water from a water-containing system. Since the resin can exhibit a sort of molecular sieve action, it can selectively control the concentration of a macromolecular material without affecting the concentration of a low molecular weight compound such as a buffer agent. The resin is useful particularly in concentrating an aqueous solution or emulsion containing a material susceptible to thermal denaturation, such as an edible substance, amino acid, protein, polysaccharide or, enzyme which is difficult to concentrate by the evaporation technique, and also in controlling the concentration of an aqueous solution while adjusting the degree of water-absorbing capacity of the resin by varying its temperature.

摘要: A dazzle-free reflection mirror, which may be used as an inner mirror or an outer mirror of a vehicle, has an electro-optical element of which transparency is changed by applying an electric field thereto in order to effectuate a dazzle-free operation. The dazzle-free reflection mirror comprises a dazzle-free portion to effectuate the dazzle-free operation at a lower part of the mirror surface and a non-dazzle-free portion not to effectuate the dazzle-free operation at the rest part of the mirror surface. The dazzle-free portion shields light from following-vehicle headlights at night so that the driver feels no glaring. The non-dazzle-free portion clearly images a rear view so that the driver can see an appearance of the following vehicle.
