Abstract: A method for operating a drive train of a motor vehicle, where the drive train includes a drive aggregate, a group transmission connected between the drive aggregate and a drive output, and a separating cutch connected between the drive aggregate and the group transmission. If a speed is lower than a limit value, the separating clutch is opened and for transmission preselection one or all the other sub-transmission(s) is/are changed to a friction-force-locking condition. The separating clutch is then at least partially closed and the drive aggregate is brought to a defined rotation speed. When a friction-force-locking group transmission is required, it is checked whether a starting gearshift or a driver-desired shift for the group transmission is called for and the target rotation speed of the drive aggregate is checked. Depending on the results, the sub-transmission can be synchronized by a transmission brake or by the drive aggregate.

Abstract: A control system and method for a vehicle is provided. The system comprises a poly-shifter, an RF Hub, a transmission control module (TCM) and a controller. The poly-shifter is configured to be moved between operating states including “Park” and “Non-Park” positions. The RF Hub supports operational features of the vehicle. The TCM determines a lock state of a parking pawl in a transmission of the vehicle and communicates the lock state to the RF Hub. The controller is configured to determine whether a driver has exited the vehicle with the poly-shifter in a “Non-Park” position. The controller is further configured to power down the vehicle based on the lock state of the parking pawl being in a “Park” position and the driver exiting the vehicle with the poly-shifter in the “Non-Park” position.

Abstract: An automatic park lock for an off road or recreational utility vehicle includes a shift interlock solenoid with a spring biased plunger engaging and locking an operator shift lever in the park position. A cam surface on the operator shift lever slopes between a first end and a second end, and has a groove to lock the plunger to the park position. A controller energizes the shift interlock solenoid to retract the plunger when a plurality of operating parameters are satisfied.

Abstract: Vehicles, systems, and methods for shifting a manual transmission into neutral during autonomous braking are provided. An exemplary system for shifting a vehicle into neutral during autonomous braking includes a manual transmission for transferring power from an engine to a differential using gears manually selected by a gear selector. Also, the system includes an actuator mounted to the vehicle and to the gear selector. Further, the system includes a controller coupled to the actuator and configured to direct the actuator to force the gear selector into neutral during an autonomous braking event.

Abstract: During changing of a shift range (for example, from P-range to NotP-range), an SBW-ECU determines whether it is in a range-change delay condition (a switching completion time of the shift range is delayed than a normal switching completion time). When it is determined that it is in the range-change delay condition, it is determined whether a target range should be changed to a safer range (for example, P-range). As a result, when it is determined that the target range should be changed to the safer range, the target range is changed to the safer range. Thereby, even if a driver determines that the shift range cannot be changed before the switching completion of the shift range and the driver gets off the vehicle, the shift range can be changed to the safer range (P-range).

Abstract: A method of controlling an automatic transmission is provided. The automatic transmission includes a piston having first and second surfaces opposite from each other, friction plates, engaging and disengaging hydraulic pressure chambers for supplying and discharging hydraulic pressure and directing the piston to push the friction plates to be engaged and disengaged, a hydraulic pressure control valve for supplying and discharging hydraulic pressure to and from the chambers, first and second oil paths communicating the valve with the chambers, and a pressure reducing valve disposed in the second oil path and for preventing hydraulic pressure of the disengaging hydraulic pressure chamber from exceeding a given set pressure. The second surface has a larger area for receiving hydraulic pressure than an area of the first surface for receiving hydraulic pressure. The method includes changing the given set pressure according to information regarding a state of the automatic transmission.

Abstract: A system for reducing the likelihood of brakes of a vehicle overheating when towing a trailer includes a transmission configured to operate in a plurality of gear ratios and a GPS unit configured to detect location data. The system also includes an input device configured to receive data indicating whether the trailer is connected to the vehicle and an ECU coupled to the transmission, the GPS unit and the input device. The ECU is designed to determine whether the vehicle is within a predetermined distance of a downgrade of a road based on the location data, determine a current gear ratio of the transmission and determine whether it is desirable for the transmission to operate in a second gear ratio that is lower than the current gear ratio based on whether the trailer is connected, whether the vehicle is within the predetermined distance, and the current gear ratio.
