Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a system may comprise at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive images representative of an environment of the host vehicle and analyze the images to identify a first object and a second object. The processor may determine a first predefined navigational constraint implicated by the first object and a second predefined navigational constraint implicated by the second object, wherein the first and second predefined navigational constraints cannot both be satisfied, and the second predefined navigational constraint has a priority higher than the first predefined navigational constraint. The processor may determine a navigational action for the host vehicle satisfying the second predefined navigational constraint, but not satisfying the first predefined navigational constraint and, cause an adjustment of a navigational actuator of the host vehicle in response to the determined navigational action.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a system may comprise an interface to obtain sensing data of an environment of the host vehicle. The processing device may be configured to determine a planned navigational action; identify, a target vehicle in the environment of the host vehicle; predict a distance between the host vehicle and the target vehicle if the planned navigational action was taken; determine a current host vehicle stopping distance based on a braking capability, acceleration capability, and speed of the host vehicle; determine a current target vehicle braking distance based on a speed and braking capability of the target vehicle; and implement the planned navigational action when the predicted distance of the planned navigational action is greater than a minimum safe longitudinal distance calculated based on the current host vehicle stopping distance and the current target vehicle braking distance.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for host vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a navigation system for a host vehicle may include at least one processing device programmed to receive, from a camera, a plurality of images representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the plurality of images to identify a first flow of traffic and a second flow of traffic; determine a presence of at least one navigational state characteristic indicative of an alternating merging of the first flow of traffic and the second flow of traffic into a merged lane; cause at least a first navigational change to allow one target vehicle from the first flow of traffic to proceed ahead of the host vehicle; and cause at least a second navigational change to cause the host vehicle to follow the target vehicle into the merged lane.

Abstract: A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive an image representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the image to identify a navigational state associated with the host vehicle; and determine, based on the navigational state, a navigational action for the host vehicle based on a policy that maps possible navigational actions to sensed states. The navigational action may be based on a safety constraint applicable to the navigational state, the safety constraint including a safety distance constraint associated with the host vehicle, wherein the safety distance constraint is based on a determined speed of the host vehicle and a determined speed of a detected target object. The processor may cause an adjustment of a navigational actuator of the host vehicle to implement the determined navigational action.

Abstract: A system and method estimate a future path ahead of a current location of a vehicle. The system includes at least one processor programmed to obtain a trained system that was trained to estimate a future path on a first plurality of images of environments ahead of vehicles navigating roads. The at least one processor is also programmed to obtain an image of an environment ahead of a current arbitrary location of a vehicle navigating a road, and provide, based on an application of the trained system to the obtained image, an estimated future path of the vehicle ahead of the current arbitrary location.

Abstract: A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processing device. The processing device may be programmed to receive a first output and a second output associated with a host vehicle, wherein at least one of the outputs is received from a sensor onboard the host vehicle. The processing device may identify a target object in the first output and determine whether a characteristic of the target object triggers a navigational constraint by verifying the identification of the target object based on the first output; and, if the navigational constraint is not verified based on the first output, then verifying the identification of the target object based on a combination of the first output and the second output. In response to the verification, the processing device may cause at least one navigational change to the host vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous and/or driver-assist navigation features. In some implementations, techniques for predicting the location of first roadway lane constraints are provided. The system may receive multiple images of a roadway in a vicinity of a vehicle, recognize a first roadway lane constraint, and, when lane prediction conditions are determined to be satisfied, predict a location of a second roadway lane constraint. In some implementations, techniques for detecting and responding to construction zones are provided. The system may receive multiple images of a roadway in a vicinity of a vehicle, recognize indicators of a construction zone in the images, determine that the vehicle is proximate to a construction zone, and output a signal indicating that the vehicle is proximate to a construction zone.

Abstract: A navigation system includes a processor programmed to receive, from a sensor, an output related to a motion of the host vehicle. The output is generated at a first time that is later than a data acquisition time, when a measurement or data acquisition on which the output is based is acquired, and earlier than a second time at which the sensor output is received processor; generate, for a motion prediction time, a prediction of at least one aspect of host vehicle motion based, on the output and how the aspect of host vehicle motion changes over a time interval between the data acquisition time and the motion prediction time; determine a navigational action for the host vehicle; generate a navigational command for implementing at least a portion of the navigational action; and provide the navigational command to at least one actuation system of the host vehicle.
