    摘要: A drum closure system is provided for protecting the integrity of the threads of a drum neck and for providing the safe and easy installation of a replaceable closure neck. The drum closure system primarily comprises a drum with a drum neck integrally formed in the drum top, a closure plug, a replaceable closure neck which is interposed threadably between the drum neck and the closure plug, and a specialized tool for installing and removing the replaceable closure neck. The use of the tool, which is designed to enable exertion of very high levels of torque on the replaceable neck, eliminates the need for a locking mechanism between the replaceable neck and drum neck because insertion of the replaceable neck at a high torque measurement virtually eliminates the possibility of relative rotation of the replaceable neck without the specialized tool. Installation of the closure plug makes the removal of the replaceable neck virtually impossible.

    摘要: A PGA integrated circuit package includes a package substrate (12), a unidirectional electrically conductive elastomeric layer (14), a plastic tape layer (16) having a centrally disposed chip (18), an insulator layer (20), and a cover member (22). A plurality of metal terminal pins (24) extend from a bottom surface of the substrate (12) and protrude slightly above a top surface thereof to form terminal pin ends (30). The elastomeric layer (14) is deposited over the substrate (12) for engagement with the terminal pin ends (30). The tape layer (16) and the chip (18) are deposited over the elastomeric layer (14). The tape layer (16) has a metalized trace pattern deposited on its bottom surface. The metalized trace pattern terminates at its outer ends with spaced apart metal terminal pads (32) which are in substantially vertical alignment with the respective terminal pin ends (30). The insulator layer (20) and the cover member (22) are compressed to establish electrical interconnection between the terminal pads and the respective terminal pin ends through the elastomeric layer (14).

    摘要: A cold rolling process for impressing a pattern on a surface of a sheet metal article involves passing the sheet article through a pair of rolls and engaging a patterning feature with isolated areas of a surface of the sheet article, at a localized pressure to plastically deform at least the surface of the sheet article. A rolling pressure is maintained on other areas of the sheet article that is less than the bulk elastic yield strength of the metal. A cold rolling apparatus is also described having a pair of rolls, each with partially cylindrical outer surfaces. The rolls have a gap between the cylindrical parts. One of the rolls has a localized surface region that is displaced relative to the surface of the roll. When the localized region is brought near the other roll, a spacing exists that is narrower than the gap. One of the rolls has a localized patterning feature that aligns with the localized surface region to impress a pattern into the sheet article. The gap allows the rolls to engage opposite surfaces of the sheet article while imparting compression less than a bulk elastic yield strength of the metal.

    摘要: A disposable ingredient cartridge for beverage dispense apparatus (FIG. 5) comprises a moulded plastic two-piece shell 33a, 33b with an ingredient reservoir 34. A one-way valve 35 leads into the reservoir 34 for filling the reservoir 34 with ingredient. Two non-return valves 36, 37 lead into and out of a chamber 38 and a pump piston 39 attached to a drive member 40 connectable to an external drive (not shown) via the piston shaft 41 is movable within the chamber 38 to vary the size of the chamber 38. In use, when the drive member 40 is driven in one direction, the piston 39 moves drawing ingredient from the reservoir 34 through non-return valve 36 into chamber 38 and, when the drive member 40 is driven in the other direction, the piston 39 pushes the ingredient out of chamber 38 through non-return valve 37 down a flexible tube 42 and out of a tip valve 43. The tip valve 43 is attached to a mounting piece 44 receivable by the apparatus such that the tip valve will be in a flow of diluent. The cartridge has a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag 43a which contains coded information relating to the fluid contained within the reservoir 34, for example the fluid type and its concentration, and the apparatus has a reader for reading the tag 43a.

    摘要: A multi-cartridge powered dispenser includes a frame having base and top cartridge supports, wheels and a handle. A piston/cylinder is mounted on the frame and at least three cartridges are clamped between the support plates. Each cartridge has a shuttle at the lower end and a discharge opening at the upper end. The piston/cylinder assembly has push rods extending through the base support to move the shuttles in the cartridges. A pressurized fluid supply conduit is connected to the piston/cylinder, and a valve in the fluid supply conduit controls the flow. Discharge cannulae communicate with the outlets the cartridges. Discharge conduits extend between the cannulae and a handpiece for applying the contents of the cartridges to a work surface. The application handpiece can be a sprayer, a roller applicator, or a pour/extrude applicator.
