摘要: Devices and methods for evaluating an electrochemical reaction are disclosed. A device includes an electrochemical cell having a cavity for containing a liquidus electrolyte, a first working electrode having at least one electrolytic surface at least partially within the cavity, and a second counter electrode having at least one electrolytic surface at least partially within the cavity. The first working electrode includes a body and an insert supported by the body. The electrolytic surface of the working electrode is formed on or integral with the insert. The insert and body are each formed from a high-temperature material which allows for preparation or processing of the electrolytic surface at a temperature of at least 300° C. The device further includes a drive system detachably coupled to the first working electrode or a portion thereof for effecting relative motion between the electrolytic surface of the working electrode and a bulk portion of the liquidus electrolyte.

摘要: An apparatus including a basis that has a plurality of wells associated therewith for defining a plurality of electrochemical cells; at least two electrodes sealingly disposed in each electrochemical cell; and circuitry for providing an electrical connection between an electrical source and each said cell. A particularly preferred apparatus employs at least one printed circuit board secured to the base. In a preferred method, candidate materials are introduced into the apparatus and their respective performances are analyzed.

摘要: Storage phosphors comprising an activated garnet host comprising oxygen and combined elements satisfying the relationship Ln3+&dgr;M5−&dgr;:cQ wherein Ln is an element selected from the group consisting of Gd, La, Lu, Y and combinations thereof; M is an element selected from the group consisting of Al, Ga, Sc, Fe and combinations thereof; Q is selected from the group consisting of terbium, samarium, thallium, indium, europium, ytterbium and combinations thereof; &dgr; is greater lo than or equal to minus 0.5, but less than or equal to 0.5 (i.e., −0.5≦&dgr;≦0.5); and c is an amount sufficient to produce a phosphor that exhibits a higher luminescence emission intensity than said phosphor absent Q when, after first being exposed to penetrating radiaton, the phosphor is stimulated by light of a wavelength ranging from 600 to 1200 nm or thermally. These phosphors can store and subsequently emit light based on several different types of irradiation, including x-ray, ultraviolet, electrons, alpha or beta particles or neutrons.
