Abstract:
A light generating device for illuminating tissue adjacent to a body lumen while a distal end of the device is centered in the lumen, to render photodynamic therapy. The device can either occlude or displace bodily fluid, both without the use of a balloon. In one embodiment, a flushing lumen has a port adjacent to an array of light sources, to displace bodily fluid that might otherwise absorb light. Another embodiment employs a centering member that moves between a first position and a second position. The centering member centers the device in the lumen and preferably is formed of a shape memory material. In yet another embodiment, the device includes an outer sheath and an inner member that are independently positionable, enabling the centering member to be selectively positionable. The centering member can be non porous, such that the centering member also occludes fluid flow.
Abstract:
Provided are a method, system, and program monitoring paths between a first controller and second controller. A determination is made as to whether one path has been unavailable for a predetermined time period in response to detecting that the path is unavailable. Indication is made that the path is in a first failed state if the path has been unavailable for more than the predetermined time period and indication is made that the path is in a second failed state if the path has not been unavailable for the predetermined time period.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a layered ammonia oxidation catalyst. The layered catalyst causes ammonia to be selectively oxidized in the presence of an oxidant such as air, while minimizing the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The layered catalyst comprises a refractory oxide support such as gamma alumina upon which a platinum component is deposited and a vanadia component is deposited on the platinum. The catalyst is preferably disposed on a substrate such as a metal foil whose surface contains a “herringbone” pattern.
Abstract:
A fuse arrangement for use in a vehicle is provided having a configuration wherein a common bus terminal connected to a voltage supply is connected to terminals of one or more axial fuses. The other fuse terminals are, in turn, connected to a wiring harness that is located on an opposite side of the fuse box from the common bus terminal in a base of a fuse box. Additionally, the present invention includes a fuse array including a planar substrate with fuses constructed on the substrate by film metallization. Furthermore, the invention includes a carrier strip used for packaging automotive fuses that is made of a flexible material capable of being rolled into a package for shipping to an end user. The invention also includes a mini fuse having reduced terminal spacing for use in vehicles with mixed voltage systems wherein the reduced terminal spacing fuse is used for a particular voltage.
Abstract:
A non-ceramic image sensor semiconductor package with improved moisture resistance, lower cost, and higher reliability is provided. A semiconductor chip with a vision chip active area is attached to a multi-layer resin mask organic substrate. A plurality of bonding wires are attached between parts of the semiconductor chip and the multi-layer resin mask organic substrate to create selective electrical connections. A castellation is formed to create a riser surrounding the semiconductor chip. The height of the castellations can be made to a desired height so that proper clearance of the semiconductor chip and the glass window is achieved. A transparent window is placed on the top of the castellations. A liquid encapsulant is formed to protectively seal the non-ceramic image sensor semiconductor package thereby shielding the semiconductor chip and vision chip active area from the external environment. Because the same or similar materials are used in the package, the adhesion between these parts is very strong, thus providing a highly reliable device at a lower cost.

A grip structure is designed for use in an exercise device and is formed of a main body, a grip rod, and two slide blocks disposed at two ends of the grip rod. The main body is of a ring-shaped construction and is provided with a groove. The main body is fastened with a predetermined portion of the operation rod of the exercise device. The slide blocks are slidably received in the groove of the main body. The grip rod can be adjusted 360 degrees in relation to the main body, thereby enabling a change in direction in which the grip rod is held fast by an exerciser.

The present invention provides a ball grid array semiconductor package having a resin coated metal core substrate. The semiconductor device comprises a resin coated metal core substrate, solder balls, chip adhesive material, at least one semiconductor chip, bonding wires, and encapsulant. The metal core is made from a conductive material, for example, a metal lead frame and coated with a resin to form a resin covered metal core substrate structure. The resin coating covers both sides of the metal core except for selected areas of the metal core, such as where it is desired to attach the bonding wires or the solder balls. A liquid encapsulant is formed to cover desired areas of the resin coated substrate, bonding wires, adhesive material, and the semiconductor chip. Since the outer surface of the substrate is substantially of resin material, the adhesion between the substrate and the encapsulant is much stronger than if a standard conventional substrate was used. Due to the resin coated metal core, the semiconductor device has improved thermal performance, higher reliability, and lower cost.

A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for accessing a subject table in a computer system. The subject table is partitioned across a plurality of processing units of the computer system. A user query or other request to access the subject table is split into a plurality of step messages, wherein each of the step messages is assigned to one of the processing units managing one or more of the partitions of the subject table. A plurality of actions are identified for each of the step messages, and one or more necessary records for these actions are retrieved from the partition of the subject table and stored into a corresponding partition of a spool table. The necessary records are selected in such a manner that none of the actions involved in the request need to access the partition of the subject table. The actions from the step message are then performed against the partitions of the spool table rather than the partitions of the subject table. An optimizer function uses information from the spool table to generate more efficient execution plans for the step message and its associated actions.

A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for accessing a subject table in a computer system. The subject table is partitioned across a plurality of processing units of the computer system. A trigger is defined for the subject table, such that when a triggering event occurs on the subject table, a triggered action is performed. Both the triggering event and triggered action can be performed in parallel by the computer system. A spool table is generated for each partition of the subject table, wherein the spool table stores one or more necessary records accessed from the subject table by the triggering event. In this manner, triggered actions that refer to these necessary rows need not access the subject table again.

A power management system for a personal computer comprises a power management processor, a switchable power supply and a keep alive power supply. The processor is powered by the keep alive power supply that continuously provides power. The computer is powered by a power supply that is switchable in response to a control signal. The processor preferably controls the switchable power supply. The processor is coupled to receive external device interrupts from a plurality of external devices that instruct the processor when to turn the switchable power supply on and off. The processor is also coupled to the computer through an interface. The power management system also includes a method for turning the computer on and off. A preferred method uses the processor to control the power provided to the computer. The preferred method also uses the processor to dictate whether the computer will perform a long boot that brings the computer to an operational state, identifies the computer's configuration, and tests memory, or a short boot that brings the computer to an operational state in a much shorter time. A preferred method for turning the computer off includes the ability to exit program being run by the computer, and saving the hardware state of the computer on the hard disk.
